Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA beautiful old house in really nice countryside. The hosts were available and attentive and we enjoyed chatting with them about the history of the house and its contents. Everything was very relaxed. Our room overlooked the garden and the views from elsewhere were delightful given it was lambing season. The breakfast was great!

United KingdomThe bedroom was fairly cold even with the radiator turned up but the bed was nice and warm. It would have been nice to have had the option of toast and marmalade at breakfast but this is only a minor observation as the cooked breakfast we had was very tasty.
Hollow Meadow House is an impressive building with several interesting features. We stayed for one night in the double room with a separate bathroom down the hallway. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had the opportunity to have a chat with out hosts, Lucie and Charles at breakfast and they gave us some useful information about the local area including places to visit if we come again. We were the only guests at the time and enjoyed the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

United KingdomThat our stay was so brief, we would have loved to have had more time to take a walk in the stunning country side.
This is a beautiful old house in a stunning country location, we only stay one night and hadn't travelled far but felt think a true "escape to the country". We stayed in the double room which is very spacious and the bed so comfy. Nice bathroom just down a very short corridor, no bother and we had sole use. Previous reviews mentioned no blinds in the bathroom however you are in the middle of the countryside, not even sheep could see you!! Both Lucie and her husband are charming and very welcoming. We slept like logs and Lucie made us a very tasty bacon sandwich before we left.

United KingdomExpect intermittent wifi connection. Clothes rail or hooks would be handy in the room with coat hangers although there is a large chest of drawers in the twin bedroom.
Quaint country house with lots of character in an idyllic countryside setting. Gorgeous views from the twin bedroom. Although you don't need a tv in the bedroom when you have such lovely views on the door step, we got to enjoy watching the Wimbledon Men's final during a wet and windy afternoon! Safe parking on site. Lucie is a warm welcoming host and very accommodating. The veggie breakfast was a treat.

United KingdomTea/coffee facilities would have been really welcomed in the room. Also, a little more opportunity to ask host questions on arrival. Waste paper bin in room would be good and a lamp in hallway at night to guide to bathroom.
Lovely room in very old beautiful house and great views across fields. Charles and Lucie were friendly and welcoming. Very relaxed feel with no keys needed for room, which was absolutely fine with us. Basic facilities in room, but was nice and clean. Ceilings low, so need to be careful if tall. Bathroom was down the corridor, with a bath containing shower head. Location was great for us with a wedding close by. Breakfast was really nice - bacon and eggs, with toast. One cup of tea/coffee provided.

GermanyA little bit more attention to the details would it make worth the asking price. The main things where good but better don‘t look into cleanliness closely; dust everywhere and things in the bathroom could be cleaner. I had to level my bed with some wooden pieces due to the nice old flooring. Breakfast was really nice and well prepared while a little limited in choice.
The hosts were really great; very uncomplicated and friendly and made us feeling like home instantly. It is a stunning location in a remote area with good pubs around and friendly people everywhere.

United Kingdom“We stayed in the en-suite twin room of this beautiful 17th century house, full of character with stunning views across the Warwickshire countryside. Lucie and Charles were very welcoming and made us feel part of the family as soon as we arrived. Lucie made us a much appreciated cup of tea after our journey and drinking it on the bench overlooking the fields listening to the birdsong set the tone for our stay. After a delicious cooked breakfast we set off to explore nearby Upton Hall and the surrounding villages. Hollow Meadow House was the perfect base for a relaxing escape and we hope to visit again in the future.”
