How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It’s not about like… we LOVED, everything. The property was modern, clean, well equipped and located in the perfect setting for relaxation. It was also located on the grounds of a beautiful, larger property - absolutely stunning.

The breakfast provided was exactly as explained within the booking details. Absolutely fine for us. The property is well designed and well equipped, has a very nice outlook. The bed was comfortable and the area was very quiet through the night. The location worked well for us with easy access to the A3 for the short journey to meet up with family.

I suppose if we had been staying longer we would need to bring additional food items for breakfast. Possibly things like bread as there is a toaster provided in the apartment. However, there is a cafe a short distance away that does a breakfast menu.
Breakfast is basic, but sufficient for a short stay. Location ideal, close to major road routes but the property itself is in a lovely quiet setting. The apartment is modern and imaculately presented. Our host Nigel was most approachable and informative. Fully recommended

Just amazing! Couldn’t recommend more - everything you could need with the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on. Nigel is the perfect host with perfect communication. Can’t wait to come back!

Our host who lives in a separate home on the property was friendly, helpful, and not intrusive. The rural setting was beautiful. Our studio apartment was modern, tastefully appointed, and immaculate. (There are two attached studios which may be rented separately or together.) Very comfortable bed and great shower. Light breakfast of individually packaged cereal, toast, and biscuits, coffee/tea, and orange juice. Small cafe serving full English breakfast a short walk away. Just outside the entrance to the property is a public footpath leading to the River Wey. Our son and his family live close by. It was a perfect place to stay.

A beautiful peaceful place to stay . Nigel the owner was absolutely charming and he was a fabulous host . The standard of our room was ‘hotel chic ‘ . Immaculately clean . Comfy super king bed . Great shower - all you need for a short stay . I knew breakfast was as described , so I took my own little extras and was very happy to heat up a pre prepared meal . Soups and toast more than adequate for our needs . But there’s a good Chinese takeaway who deliver and a cafe for those seeking more . Good local pubs not far away. We watched the sun go down with the horses and a bottle of wine and enjoyed Nigels’ company immensely - putting the world to rights in a lovely environment 😂 I cannot recommend Hill Farm Barn enough . We were guests at a party not far away and a taxi ferried us on the day without issue . So if you are in the area I’d definitely stay here ! I would love to return if we return to Surrey .

It is not an apartment, the only cooking that can be done is in the microwave and there are no clothes washing facilities. Whilst the milk and juice were appreciated Alpen and Weetabix doesn't constitute breakfast.
A spotlessly clean and comfy room. Spacious with a very large and supremely comfortable bed. Linen and towels spotless. Ensuite well fitted and readily available hot water. The room had air conditioning which we didn't use as the windows opened and the fresh air was lovely. There's a fridge with a supply of fresh milk and orange juice. Coffee machine much appreciated. The location is quiet, picturesque and we spent time just sitting in a purpose built "gazebo" at the top of the garden. Parking is very convenient and had electricity points for the car if needed. Great location within easy reach of many interesting places. Communications very clear and helpful. Friendly host.
