How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Everything about the property was perfect. Excellent location. Very clean and tidy. Everything was in plentiful supply from clean towels, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, sugar biscuits. Peter and Gerry were great hosts too, making magnificent breakfasts and generally couldn’t do enough to please us

This was our first stay at Harbour Lodge, but definitely not our last. Peter greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming. Great stay, room, location, easy parking etc. Jerry's cooked breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit & yogurt a nice extra treat. Very dog friendly including a breakfast sausage for our dog. Great value. Already looking forward to returning sometime next year. Thank you both very much.

Fabulous hosts and a very warm welcome. The room was spotless, comfy bed, off-road parking, and location was great. Breakfast was really very nice and the owners could not have been more helpful.

The only minor grumble was the WiFi would not always connect to our phones. But it was wasn't a major problem.
Excellent friendly hosts, Peter and Jerry. Lovely breakfasts, spotlessly clean room and great location for Paignton Harbour and seafront.

Not really, I do struggle with stairs so next time we visit I will request the ground floor room. But that I struggle is not Peter or Jerry's problem!
I visited Harbour Lodge with my children and grand children and our 10 month old Spaniel. Peter and Jerry were just lovely and our rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Parking was easy and my grand-child and I shared a room and we both loved the view across the bay from our window. Breakfast was lovely and we were sad to go, we will be back though.

Double bed slightly too small for two big adults but we made do, and it did not spoil our stay.
Hosts are very thoughtful, welcoming and caring. Breakfast was English and Continental with different kind of pastries home made everyday. We had crepes on the last day, what a delight! My dog was not forgotten- a freshly cooked sausage for breakfast every morning. The room was very clean, fresh towels provided and even a sufficient amount of toiletries supply. There was also a kettle with copious amount of tea, coffee, hot chocolates and biscuits available in the room. Location is amazing, less than 10 minutes from the harbour and many different beaches. Hosts are knowledgeable on the local amenities and even gave us a a bit of history on some local cove :)

Hosts Excellent. very good full range of items for breakfast from fresh bowl of portioned seasonal fruit to the very fresh and tasty full English. Room spacious, modern and very clean. (checked daily ). Location great by the harbour and lovely sea view. Would recommend to anyone who is stopping in Paignton.

It was very nice to stay at Harbour Lodge, Peter and Jerry are very friendly and did absolutely everything to make me feel welcome, I appreciate that. Breakfast was plenty and very tasty with several choices to choose from. The room had a view to the harbour and was nice and quiet at night, allowing me to have a good rest before and after a 10 miles walk on the coast. There were some returning guests in the other room, who were also lovely and very friendly and had some interesting conversations during breakfast. Hope to return at some day.

Everything was good, we all loved it.
Our first B & B experience but one we will definitely be repeating, in fact we've rebooked while we were still staying! The property is in a nice quiet position, just a short walk to both the harbour and the beach. Friendly hosts. Our room was lovely, clean, comfortable and well equipped. We also had a good sea view. We had breakfast every morning and we were given a specially cooked sausage for our dog which really meant a lot to us. Cooked perfectly and quickly it really set us up for the day. In our room we had a good supply of tea, coffee etc and these were topped up regularly too. The shower was great and we had plenty of towels. Wi fi was a good speed and very easy to connect. An amazing selection of TV to watch too in the evening. Parking right outside the property. Shop, takeaways and eating places a short walk away. Torquay and Brixham are a short drive away too.
