Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsLots of little steps everywhere. Busy and noisy environment. The bed was narrow, 1.40 m only!
Beautiful old townhouse, 19th century. Lots of stairs though! Nice breakfast and good restaurant. Close to city center, but also close to lots of nightclubs and bars.

United KingdomThe bathroom was situated up a set of quite steep stairs. So every visit to the bathroom required climbing up and down each time. This was quite unnerving for an elderly couple especially at night when it was dark. It was a little disappointing to find that breakfast wasn't included in the price. It could be added if required at a cost of £15 per person if pre-booked or £17 per person for a walk-in. I would have thought at £85:50 per night breakfast would have been included. On principle we ate elsewhere.
The hotel was ideally situated for our needs being a short walk from our destination. There was a bar and restaurant within the hotel. However we used neither. The room was relatively quiet and the beds were comfortable. There appeared to be everything within the room that a visitor could need. Well stocked toiletries, tea/coffee makings, TV, hair dryer and even an iron and ironing board.

United KingdomThe teas and coffees weren't especially lovely or generous, and sound proofing with the corridor wasn't perfect. The historic building is grand and very characterful - but that's a bit lost with the decor. But these are just details.
Fantastic location on the greatest street in the city. Smooth check in and out, friendly staff, and good facilities in the room. A comfy bed and bath, warm room and a nice view too.

United KingdomThere are a few sets of steep steps to rooms and also inside our room. It was fine for us but if you have disabilities you will need to book an accessible room

Check in was quick and the gentleman checking us in was excellent. Gave us directions on how to get where we needed to be that night. He went above and beyond, unfortunately I didn't get his name. Great location, comfy beds and would definitely return. Thank you.

United KingdomShower in bathroom wasn’t great and the grout could be refreshed. Television wasn’t a smart tv which isn’t terrible however we were limited as to what we could watch while in the room at night. Unable to cast to television either.
Room was clean and well presented and we were able to check in before 3pm!

NetherlandsThere was quite a noice from outside. Probably a airco unit. The bathroom is spacious, but personally i do not like shower fitted in the bath. In this case the showerhead was fixed to the wall which made standing under it almost impossible
It is all about location. Between te city centre and the Quayside this must be the perfect location in the city, Nice old building too. Breakfast is freshly made and good quality. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, small desk and a lounge chair.

United KingdomSlightly more attention to dust!
Room was furnished to a good standard, bathroom was OK with shower over bath. Coffee/tea available. Complimentary water. The room was rather dusty and towel rail could have been cleaned better but overall we enjoyed the stay. Lots of steps up and down to the bedroom might not suit some people. Excellent breakfast choice.

United KingdomUnfortunately I didn't realise booking a standard double meant the bed would be so bad. The bed is one of the most important things during a hotel stay, I appreciate different people like different mattress but this mattress was so old it squeaked and echoed when you moved, we could feel the hexagonal metal springs jabbing into our side so the first night stay was terrible and not much sleep at all. I was quite upset as I could have stayed in a chain hotel with a much better bed for half the price. We did however ask reception for a mattress topper for the second night and the house keeping brought us a feather topper which some what helped disguise the springs a little better. It's worth also noting this is a small standard double bed so if you need more space, you would want to book a different room type. The shower was very small, I am small but this was a squash and the positioning of the shower head was very strange. The air con did not appear to work, we asked reception to turn it on for us but nothing seemed to come out and with it being a listed building you can't actually open the window to the outside only the inner PVC window. Which would be fine, except without the air con it was quite hot as we stayed in a bit of a heat wave. The room was a little tired looking and stains on the chair and carpets but overall it wasn't unclean just a little old.
The location was great, expected road noise so this didn't bother us much. The exterior was nice and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The downstairs bar was very nice but we didn't get to try it out as they had an issue with card payments when we went in. But it seemed popular and had great decor. The room was a good enough size for a standard double. The room decor was nice with the historic building wallpaper. I'd consider staying again if the price was cheaper for what you get or an offer on an upgrade with better comfort. I was able to add an extra night prior due to train strikes the next day and I appreciated the ease of this as it was already stressful.
