Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomParking was full, we had to pay £20 for overnight parking at the harbour, which added up on the cost.
The room was tidy and comfort. My children got surprised welcome gifts. Even we had to pay for swimming pool but the charge was not high and quite warm.

United KingdomIt would be better if the parking at the hotel was clearer - we ended up parking in the town Asda / NCP car park, which is probably better all in all because it's more guaranteed and not that much more. The sound insulation wasn't great. The rooms with the seaview also have the lights shining up at them through the night (which stops birds roosting and nesting). But overall, and against the price paid, these are inconveniences but not dealbreakers.
It's a good location. The standard is ok. The hotel is a bit run down, but for the price paid it still provided a very good deal. Plus it has a small pool. And the breakfast was perfectly good value and the staff were very nice. There was free entertainment at night, probably put on for the coach trip business.

United KingdomSimple tidiness of decoration, just needed a little bit of attention to make such a difference. Paying cash was a problem needing management authority beforehand and refusing £50 bank notes

United KingdomThe bedcovers and sheets were very dirty, So I had to request new clean bedcovers and sheets. My husband was having a shower and shower curtain rail fell on my husbands head, and he had a headache all that day, so we couldn't really enjoy our day The staff didn't even mention the WiFi, which I had to pay £14 for 2 days Youtube wasn't working either, and I did pay for the Internet.
The beach was near the hotel.

United KingdomSome of the staff in the reception & Bar are not the same as last year and some of the current lack long-term sight when dealing with Customers. e.g. The Hotel might be empty, but you will still struggle to get a proper room for petty reasons, besides, they don’t read your requests. In the bar, there's a lazy lady, and her level of service is selective upon who she thinks you are. I hope management provides further training on how not to treat customers and incentivises those who are doing a great job.
This is my second stay there, The hotel is well situated and overall quiet. The food is good and affordable, and the chef & crew are professional.

United KingdomThe wifi was very expensive; most hotels provide free wifi these days. Also, some food had been left in the fridge from a previous resident, which is not really acceptable.
The view of the harbour was amazing! The room itself was generally very comfortabe, if a little shabby. Ditto the breakfast; there was a good selection, but not everything was as fresh as it might have been.

United KingdomLack of parking on site (I understand you're not guaranteed a space even if you pre-book). The nearby car park cost me over £14 for the night. That made it a very expensive night for 5 hours of sleep.
The room was clean. It was close to Dover for the ferry.

United Kingdomlate start entertainment. Great high bath for myself but extremely difficult for my husband to get in and out of. Since at least 70% of the customers are over 60 years old then changing the high baths with a much lower ones should be considered. Now the right time for it as ongoing refurb free wifi not available throughout the hotel. Perhaps, a singer/player by the bar at the scheduled dinner starting times would make a difference to the older customers that can't make the late nights
ongoing refurbishment New furniture and designated areas Improved bar food offerings The location relaxing break and friendly staff
