Great staff, location and overall hotel/inn. Staff were lovely and helpful, offering to make breakfast after it had ended and to hold our bags. Originally went to visit as it was ‘haunted’ and whilst we didn’t see anything, the atmosphere and rooms certainly add to the spookiness. The bed was so comfy in the minster suite and overall good facilities. Would definitely recommend. :)

A lovely experience from start to end. All the staff were very helpful and accommodating. As there are only 4 rooms interacting with the staff becomes a very personal. Thank you Alex and the team not forgetting Sarah😊 thanks people we will be visiting again

The suite was huge, quirky and had lots of interestung features. The bed was really comfortable and luxurious. The shower was fantastic with a huge shower head and threw down lots of lovely hot water. It was spotless, the bedroom, lounge, and bathroom not easy when filled with beautiful antique/aged furniture peaces.

Parking 500m away and £25 a night. Tables “sticky”.

One or two tacky decorations, main issue was noise from M&S loading bay late into the night, not there fault but made for poor sleep, also evening meal was awful, sorry but would not eat there again

Everything was perfect, not one complaint

Alll the staff were very friendly and helpful. Always smiling and polite. Entering the room was a delight, so atmospheric with dimmed lighting, gorgeous bed and bits of quirkiness wherever ever you looked. The room at night was warm, the bed was so comfy even ghostly noises didn't keep us awake. Perfectly position at the bottom of the shambles you are central to all you need to do and see in York. Highly recommend a stay at The Golden Fleece.

The sausages at breakfast had obviously been under the heat lamp for a few hours but everything else’s was delicious.

Great location, very helpful staff, Most haunted hotel in York which was the main reason for staying there, the only spirits there were in the optics behind the bar. Creaky floors and wonky walls in this 500 year old building and the period style decor and furniture addd to the appeal and atmosphere

The pillows weren’t great. Ended up with a stiff neck.. There was a window with no covering which kept me up. But otherwise a great little find.

This hotel was full of historical charm & quirks. Great atmosphere & drinks were reasonably priced for this city.

There really wasn't anything to dislike about our stay here. If I was to say anything it would be I wish they had a lift.

I liked everything about the Golden Fleece,from it's wonky architecture and floors to its ghostly goings on. The rooms where clean and comfortable and the unsuited included a large shower with plenty of room. The staff welcomed you with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. I truly enjoyed my stay and would happily stay again

You definately feel like an inconvenience to the staff because the pub is so so busy. Check in was interesting because it was so busy, getting knocked about, and having to find our own way to our room, not knowing which one was actually ours. I love the fact you are basically left to your own devices, but when we asked the staff on 2 occasions for things, they never materialised. 1 was that we couldn't get the tv to work. The bar staff said he would send manager up, but forgot as he was so busy. Luckily my husband managed to retune everything and got it working. The next was on the 2nd morning we asked for more tea and coffee, and that never materialised either.

I absolutely loved our room 'The Shambles'. So beautiful and with such quirky wonkiness. I felt so at home and slept better than i have slept for years. The bathroom - beautiful!!! The time you have in the morning for breakfast when the pub is shut, is nice so you can see the downstairs and all the marvels they have there in peace and quiet. The breakfast was pleasant. They swapped the fried eggs for poached eggs for us. All in all, i would definately stay there again, i would remember to take an extra bin bag, ( bins didn't get emptied ) A big tea mug, cos the cups are tiny, and your own supply of tea and coffee. I love love loved our room and how comfortable it is. Thank you Golden Fleece.

TV did not work as smart TV and no WiFi to connect to? Had to hotspot the TV to mobile network to use it Due to room being on a slope (of course not something which can be helped!), the bed side cabinet door kept swinging open during the night
