Bit of a maze, easy to get lost and breakfast doesn't start until about 8am which isn't ideal if you want to get an early start on a hike.

Great location in Glenridding with easy access to start/finish a climb of Helvellyn. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and good bathroom with big hot shower. Breakfast buffet was nice and they have a good bar/casual restaurant attached.

Limited car parking . ( Which was pre-stated)The lift wasn’t working to get up to the 2nd floor. The room we had was very hot ( heating was on and the external temperature was around 22C) and there was a thick duvet on the bed. There was a limited response to our request to shut off the radiator after a restless night one. ( Eventually it was off by 3rd night) We had to ask for new towels as room service missed us on day 2 despite a note being left on the door.

The staff were fantastic, friendly and went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. The location is perfect and much nicer and more enjoyable than bowness and windermere.

Only issue was the parking. Hotel car park was full so had to use a public car park across the road - but not that much of an issue

Decent size rooms, well finished. Good buffet style breakfast. Evening meal was very good also.

The rooms appeared to be muggy and warm and even with the window open it didn’t make much difference. Ideally the rooms need some air conditioning.

The decor and interior was gorgeous and full of heritage! Views to the lake were absolutely stunning! Local shops are perfect and such a friendly and welcoming village.

Room was a bit small but good for price

Excellent location. We enjoyed sitting outside in bar area and our food was really nice in restaurant. Room was on ground floor we had a dog with us so was good to be able to get outside to little field at back of hotel to walk him. Great all you can eat breakfast that set us up for the day

Food prices are a bit expensive and rooms feel like a very good 3 star hotel rather than 4 star.

Fantastic location and great looking bar. Big rooms and nice character. Parking but limited spaces. Great staff.

No room in the car park, had to park over the road , cost £8.50 per day

No veggie options in the buffet but pastries were lovely. Location fab , beautiful views

We didn’t get a turn down for the 3 nights we were there even though we left the sign on the door asking for one, We had to constantly go find staff to get loo roll and fresh towels. Literally the only thing that let the hotel down

Outside area's a little untidy, tables left uncleared for an undue time although not busy, Staff friendly but their encouragement for "you to do it" wore a little thin at times. Just a bit "Little Chef" at times

We had some noise from the room next to ours.

Excellent breakfast and the hotel was good value for money. Staff behind the bar were particularly friendly. This is a good stopover for heading North.
