We had a lovely stay at the Friars Carse our rooms were clean and tidy and the hotel had a warming country feel. We had wonderful breakfast in the morning. We travelled by hire car therefore the parking space was perfect for us to park then drive and visit the surrounding area.

It's a 3 star hotel so not a luxury resort but the building is beautiful, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fab. The room was a decent size, the bath was fine, water temperature and pressure great. For a 3 star hotel this proved to be a great experience.

The grounds were fantastic for dog walks. Loved sitting by the fireplace in the evening to have a drink. Was great to be able to bring our dog.

Food not too special but palatable. Apparently I believe there was a temporary chef during my stay. Quantity of dishes OK but not really tasty and full of flavour. Wines not that special either. Didn't spoil my stay just a bit disappointing.

Great location. Very pleasant setting, peaceful and quiet. Nice, clean, comfortable and spacious room for a single. Friendly staff and agreable guests.

Pleased that restaurant still open and reception and staff accommodating. Spectacular situation by beautiful river on on historic site. Building with a lot of character. Views from room beautiful and warm on cold night. Real fire downstairs and friendly staff.

Not a fan of fixed price menu's with price supplements. Some area's of the hotel look a little tired. Limited choice of beer in the bar

We had an evening meal which was excellent. Breakfast was traditional and beautifully prepared. The dining room was calm and peaceful and waiting staff very professional and helpful.

Breakfast very disappointing - complained about cold egg but nothing done about it. Shower not fit for purpose - very difficult to adjust between scalding hot and freezing cold. Servicing of room not good - had problems 2 days out of three.

Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Nice spacious room. Staff friendly and amenable.

Bedroom and bathroom were looking tired. Looks like bedrooms could do with renovating which would improve the hotel Breakfast was a bit disappointing after the evening meal. Hot food on cold plates and food only luke warm

Decor a little worn in places but renovations are ongoing and in no way detracted from our enjoyment.

Location is stunning. Food very good, evening menu a little limited. If you are looking for a peaceful break with a warm welcome and good food that won't break the bank, this is the place for you. Bath in Redwood room awesome . We will definitely be back.

Great breakfast and dinner room, continental breakfast is simple, but you'll get a scottisch breakfast if you want. Friendly service. Very nice site, even that is aged. But hey, it is in a wonderful park, at the board of a river. So if you do not care about old windows but abour the style, you are perfectly right at this place. And the old lobby has style, too.

We felt the rooms were very tired, flies over the windows and needed a lick of paint in places. The building itself is beautiful however, as are the surrounding grounds.

Breakfast was fine, but slightly overcooked. Dinner was lovely, fresh taste and local produce!
