Ellen House B&B was a perfect choice in Matlock. Great location. Rooms very comfortable with everything you could need and a bath a rarity these days. Breakfast was amazing with so much attention to detail. Hosts lovely and know how to run a B&B with nothing they hadn't thought of.

There was nothing to not like!

Everything was wonderful! Anne and John made us feel at home and made my mum's birthday so much more special. We loved all the little touches and the breakfasts were gorgeous and kept us going for most of the day! The location is perfect for walking into Matlock and the train station is so close too for little day trips. They were very helpful in recommending places to visit and eat and for accommodating us when we had an early check-in. the room was sparkling clean and comfortable. We loved it and felt safe there.

We stayed at Ellen house for five days, the breakfast choice was incredible, nothing was too much trouble , Anne was the perfect hostess and John was an incredible cook. the extra touches in the room made it special too, homemade flapjacks , lovely toiletries , beautiful soft white towels, plenty of supplies to make your own drinks. everywhere was immaculately clean . Our room had a door that opened onto the garden so watching the birds feed and sing in the morning was wonderful

There is nothing that could be improved on. Like most B&Bs the room was a little small for large suitcases but not tiny. Rooms are up one fight of stairs which could be an issue for some but not for us.

Ellen House has a lot to offer - very friendly and knowledgeable hosts, spotlessly clean rooms and common areas, parking (which is very hard to find in Matlock), a very convenient location - a short walk from everything and generally just a lovely place to stay. The breakfast was freshly prepared to order and delicious. Homemade preserves with breakfast were a special treat as were the home made flapjacks (YUM) in our room each day. Ellen House is also very close to the train station if that is how you travel.

I've never seen such a vast choice of cooked breakfasts in a B&B. We loved the eggs Benedict and mushroom omelettes, full English - everything in fact. The bed was extremely comfortable and the decor interesting and attractive. Our hosts were very hospitable.

We had a brilliant stay at Ellen house. Anne and Jon are amazing, very friendly and the breakfast was brilliant. Will definitely stay here again. Location is brilliant, can walk straight into town or even walk into matlock bath ( takes around 30 mins) or train station is about a minute walk away 😊

Really enjoyed staying at this bed and breakfast. Ran by a lovely couple, the room had everything we could want, the food was amazing including personal touches like homemade flapjack in the rooms, and homemade jam at breakfast. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Cannot fault.

Room, facilities and hospitality were second to none in this quiet, family run residence. The attention to detail was impressive and our room/bathroom very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was great and afforded a good variety of homemade and locally sourced produce. Located just 5 mins walk to town centre and railway station. Really cannot fault and will return.

Very welcoming hosts, patient and very helpful with knowledge of local area and a little further afield. Breakfast was lovely, tasty produce and nothing was too much trouble. Wouldn't hesitate in returning!
