very comfortable, clean and good value for money. Colin was extremely helpful with local information and things to do, places to go during our visit. He also cooked breakfast in the morning and gave us bottles of water. Thank you Colin!

I knew when I booked that the bathroom was shared - and at least this one was exceptionally clean with an excellent shower (and the shared bathroom was reflected in the price, which is the cheapest on the island), so nothing. Next time I visit Guernsey, this will be my first choice.

El Tabora is outside the centre of St Peter Port and a fair trek (only 30 minutes, but mostly uphill) from the ferry port, but is in a quiet street and there is a bus stop at the end of the road, so it is well connected. My ferry was delayed, which meant that I arrived outside normal check-in times (around midnight), but David could not have been more welcoming and understanding, despite this. There was a good array of breakfast options, all expertly cooked by Colin, who was an incredible host (sorry, Colin, if I chatted too much) and very knowledgeable about the island and its history. The property's decor remains largely unchanged (although it has been redecorated in the same style) since the 1960s, which gives it a very traditional and homely feel. The room was spotless (as, I have to say, was the shared bathroom) with plenty of tea and coffee available - and a fridge. Bonus points are awarded here for having pillow protectors as well as a good quality mattress protector on the comfortable bed, as well as excellent wi-fi.

Excellent host with lots of local knowledge. The Guest House was quaint and providing a laundry service was greatly appreciated. The breakfast was delicious and very nicely served with old-fashioned finesse. We really enjoyed our stay and felt included for a brief time as a local. The bus service was excellent and just up the street.

El Tabora was excellent value for money. The owner , Colin takes very good care of all his guests. The decor is a little quaint, but very very clean, and 5 weeks post surgery, I felt very comfortable. The location is very convenient, and I enjoyed my stay.

We knew it was a shared bathroom and would prefer ensuite. That said it was very clean and available.

As other reviews, Colin was very attentive and a mine of information on local history and areas for day trips. The position of the Guest House is ideal with good takeaways, supermarket and places to eat within 5 minutes walk. All as described.

Nothing Colin can do about other guests cleanliness but maybe a deposit to be taken on keeping the shared bathrooms clean! The areas controlled and maintained by Colin was perfect.

Colin was fantastic. Was one of the nicest and most helpful host I have had when staying in a hotel or guest house. Provided help with the island and other things. What a guy!

For the price paid … nothing !!!

Colin cooked a nice English breakfast for me every morning with a large pot of tea ! He was mindful that I have an allergy to gluten and provided food that was gluten free .... He even offered to go to the local supermarket to get gluten free bread ! The room was comfortable with tea making facilities a microwave and fridge ..... The guesthouse was quiet with no traffic noise ... There was no en suite toilet and shower but at this price point I didn't expect one !!!

A bit further out towards the edge of town than the other St Peter Port hotels, but easily walkable if you don't mind a half-hour walk - or otherwise you could take a bus. If you opt to walk, take the non-main road route as there's no pavement for some of the main road walk and it's a bit heavy on the traffic fumes. Not so on the other route (refer to Google maps).

Fantastic little guesthouse. Cheap and cheerful with everything you could wish for for a comfortable stay. My room had its own sink for brushing my teeth, kettle, a fridge for groceries, extra stand-alone heaters (which, although staying in November, I didn't need as it was nice and warm already) and a TV and wardrobe. Soap, tea, coffee, towels etc all provided. I didn't opt for the free breakfast as I was leaving very early in the morning, but they were made it clear they were happy to provide it if I wanted it - even at 6:30am... Lots of options for breakfast, including kippers! Bed and pillows very comfy for me (I like a middling bed, not too hard or soft, and same with pillows.) I didn't try the shower in the communal bathroom as I only stayed one night. Everything felt clean. Obviously don't expect anything fancy, but it's a great (and honestly quite charming) no frills guesthouse. I felt a bit like I'd gone back in time to the 1950s (in a good way). I'd stay again no hesitation - and probably will.
