How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The room was smaller than anticipated. Didn't like that at the entrance it continually smelt like weed/marijuana and also in the lifts.
Cleanliness of the room was a good standard, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was good for the size.

Very hot in room (or extremely loud aircon) Lots of noise from surrounding rooms/corridor, including banging on door in middle of night While 'you get what you pay for', there are significantly nicer hotels nearby for not much extra

There was a bit stain in the bed sheet, but overall service was okay.
The facilities and location is very good, near city centre. Also, I like the smell of the soap in the bathroom.

No kettle or tea making facilities in the room, which is usually fine as there is a coffee machine to buy drinks in the lobby. However during this trip it was broken for the whole week, as was one of the lifts.

Trams going past hotel are very noisy. Didn't really mind a room with no windows, but a very subtle night light would be good as it's pitch black at night!

The bed was slightly uncomfortable and needed another pillow each as it felt very flat. Not much support for the back.
The hotel was very well organised in a great location for the city. The room was immaculate and towels and hand wash and body wash provided. Free wifi also and a tv.

Not much, I opted for a windowless room which can feel a little claustrophobic but that was my choice!
Location is really good for town centre And close to the station which was perfect for me. The lady on checking was really lovely and they were able to let me check in early which was great. Room was clean and comfortable so perfect for a one night stay

Only one pillow each on the bed and no bath mat. I do understand however that you are helping to keep energy usage and costs down.

I spent one night with a friend. The room was awfully small, with no space to move around or store luggage. The bathroom door was glass with no lock which made us uncomfortable. The room was not soundproof. At night, there was some loud noise from other guests which kept my friend up. The room barely did the job for one night, but wouldn't recommend for longer.
Clean. The location is great (close to the train station and lots of facilities). The staff were polite.

The aircon. Room was small but it’s a budget hotel so to be expected. I think the additional charges are very steep. £5 a bag to store before check in is very steep
Great location! Staff friendly. Aircon didn’t work in room and had a room with no windows so was too hot.

A lot of the homeless and drug orientated characters hang close to the entrance. basic rooms are too basic (i.e. no drinking device). the low price draws in multiple contractors that smoke weed. Having to pay for a window and not knowing the state of the day.
Room very clean. Stylish and minimalist with controls by the bed. Location is slap bang in the center of Sheffield.

As expected, only provided basic supplies in the room, like towels and shower gels only.
Located in Sheffield High Street and city center, it got variety of shops to choose from nearby. Very convenient with different transport links near the hotel that connected within the city.

When I said basic it was very basic. Bed and bathroom, no sideboard table or anything lol
Very basic but had a bed and a bathroom which was clean. The reception area was very nice.
