The cleanliness for the room was really bad, the toilet had all brown scale, the carpet was ripped, the bedroom windows has smashed in places and we’re put back together with sellotape. There were loud drunk people I could hear from my room at 1am.

The spa and treatment

The manor house was beautiful, staff especially a new starter called Sarah was amazing. The downside the spa staff were crap, it was very tired. The staff were unhelpful, bo towels, etc. My massage was not worth £104. I didn't feel relaxed.

booked a classic double, would upgrade for future visits. Whilst room was comfortable, nothing to write home about. Pretty basic, yes hot beverage facilities and complimentary bathroom toiletries, but basic soft furnishings and odd furniture. (Blanket throw on bed). Bathroom slightly ‘tatty’ clean, but simple things like replacing a rusty shower rail …. and sorting the paintwork.

check in supposed to be 3.00, room not available until 6.00pm, really not good enough. The hotel did offer a free spa visit the following day, however could not benefit from that as other plans. A room reduction would have been more suitable.

The room was tiny although booked as a standard double. Could barely walk around the bed only room for one bedside table and the shower flooded every time you opened the shower door. IVY cottage upstairs. I get the impression that if you book through booking.com or similar they will give you the worst rooms presumably as they have to pay a fee.

Whilst it was nice, the room we stayed in definitely needed some TLC! Paint peeling off in the bathroom, tiles cracked, cobwebs above the curtains, couldn't shut the window properly so could hear the noise from the front of the house. Spa was nice but quite small considering it's a 'Champneys Spa Hotel' and you had to go outside to gain entry (which isn't the end of the world but when you're going in the spa in the evening in December in the middle of the rain & wind - not exactly the relaxing start you're looking for!). The breakfast, which was included in our room price, is MASSIVELY over priced. £32 for 2! I've had better breakfasts at a Premier Inn for half the price. You also have to pay extra for anything other than basic coffee.. Overall, I don't think I'd go again. I don't think it's worth the £200 a night price tag (even with booking.com discounts!).

Spa hours of opening too restrictive, continental breakfast needs a few more choices, and rooms need a bit of tlc - deep cleaning of bathrooms, carpets need cleaning, heated towell rails in bathroom need switching on to dry towells etc,

Continental breakfast was good, fresh and healthy. Lovely decorations and atmosphere for Christmas, decor wonderful in this period property, stunning location and grounds

Was not aware when booking, that spa access was limited hours. That with minimal dinner slot times we didn’t get much use of the spa.

The location and spa facility were nice, The Room was clean but a little small without any fridge or mini bar. the breakfast was normal. It is worth staying for one or two days.

Shower had black mould in it. Directions to reach room were sparse and not clear. Access to pool limited to after 5pm.

Location good but map showing how to get to different buildings was not great. More outdoor lighting to mark the pathways would be good. Breakfast good.

Sadly standards have slipped. We stay here often but this visit we have noticed a decline in service. Our mews rooms were not very clean, servicing of them was an inconvenient late afternoon and they forgot to finish servicing one of them, leaving the bathroom dirty. Dining was hit and miss with ordinary food and poor service. Laundry is no longer offered which is extraordinary at an upmarket hotel. We won’t be back.

On checking in the bathroom floor was clearly visibly covered in long black hair. Was moved to a new room and upgraded to a suite which was lovely but patio doors didn’t open and one window didn’t lock. Pillows are hard and lumpy.

Lovely property and what I expected. Staff all lovely. Rooms were nice. Food at dinner was good. Breakfast was good. Manager was lovely and the staff did their best when presenting them with any issue.

1. Shower was freezing cold and poor water pressure. We complained nd got moved to a top suite and it was thesame issue. 2. Service at dinner was slow and dining room freezing cold. Forgot side dishes and missed drinks we were charged for and had to dispute Overall a bit underwhelmed considering advertised as luxury etc but was not how we expected it to be....at the price it was.....oh and extra for a cooked breakfast.
