How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

There is a bar next door which goes on till quite late, so be prepared for a noisy evening if you are looking to go to bed before 1am. During our stay there was a hen party also staying at the hotel which meant there was quite loud banging of doors and shouting early in the morning.
Location was convenient for getting around to see the main sites and was very central. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, keeping our luggage after we checked out!

Hairdryer provided but no mirror near a socket to be able to use it. Room 18. Being in the city centre, the view out of the back is a roof and buildings, but ok as we wasn't there to stay in the room all day. Bar next door with live is great, but you can hear it in your room. Okay if you don't want to go to bed until midnight. I would think this is only at weekends. We were okay with this as out until midnight anyway.
In the centre, well placed to walk everywhere. Room cleaned on day 3. Nice touch on arrival of 2 bags of crisps in room.

Unfortunately very noisy - even the complementary ear plugs couldn't cope 😢. Would have liked a kettle in the bedroom.

Located next to a bar with live bands playing on a Monday night. Noise was so bad I couldn’t sleep. Could do with providing complementary ear plugs. Room was fairly clean, but dirty towels left in the bathroom from I’m presuming the previous guest

Tea and coffee was available downstairs but not in the rooms. Would be nice if in rooms. Located next door but two to a lovely bar but noisy until about 12/12.30pm

The room 1 the bathroom is quite not fresh smell, and the near square this part that’s extremely noisy cause next door is pub

No one available on arriving and only able to leave voicemail or send email. Arrived early and we’re hoping we could have dropped bags in then go back at 3 to check in But as hotel locked couldn’t do that. Meant we really couldn’t do much until after check in

I had a room at the back of the building, in the courtyard below the only window are situated about 6 commercial air conditioning units that ran all night, very noisy and no good for a light sleeper. The bathroom is very compact affording very little leg room when sitting on the loo also very little moverment possible in a small shower cubicle.
Excellent location sandwiched between a great pub and an equally good cafe, a short walk to the city centre amd main bus terminal

This was expensive £147 for one night, single room. But I expect the prices go up the weekend of Belfast marathon as everywhere was expensive.
I requested a quiet room, and I was very glad that I did. This is right beside a busy nightlife.

The Town House was in an ideal location in the city for a night out. It was very quiet, the bed was really comfortable and we had everything we needed. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here and will book again..

Left my laptop charger in the room and messaged reception about it. They informed me housekeeping didn't find anything. It was an original apple charger...

The property was in a great location and the rooms were really spacious! The pillows are the comfiest pillows we’ve ever slept on so much so we’re actually looking to purchase them for home. The staff were so kind and decorated our room for us as we were celebrating a birthday.

Room a little small. Ok for me but a bit cramped if there had been two of us. Air-conditioning unit outside window a bit noisy but OK when window shut. Would have preferred kettle in room but did have access to tea and coffee anytime.
