Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe bed was very soft and worn out. And note they are small - might not be for everyone to share this. We knew and were fine though.
Great basic but fairly priced accommodation, rooms are fine with what you need, liked that there is a shared kitchen. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There are complementaries such as tea, coffee, milk, toiletries etc. good location, close to the tram station. Could even walk 20 min to the centre. There are restaurants around and a supermarket literally downstairs.

Exactly as expected! Best booked for short stays and if you know you'll be too busy to spend much time here. Friendly staff, clean, and great location not far from the centre of Edinburgh.

United KingdomBooked this for my parents and they struggle a bit getting in and out of bed cause it's placed beside a wall and there was not a lot of space. Also our rooms were at the end of a very zig-zaggy corridor and got disorientated a couple of times. Rooms were close to a kitchen that was VERY noisy at night.
Location is very good. Plenty of options for bars, coffee, shops. Rooms are brand new built. 24h reception is super helpful.

CanadaThe hallways are too warm and suffocating and have a strange odour. Soundproofing needs to be improved as you hear a lot from outside the room when people are in the corridor inside the apartment.
Good value for money. On the whole, clean and quite comfortable with adequate facilities.

SwedenYou can hear people passing by the room, corridor was very warm, ventilation wasn't very good. You have to register an account before using the Wi-Fi, I had to repeat the process a few times, as I was travelling with parents, not very user friendly for elderly.
There was a share kitchen, so we could prepare simple breakfast. Price was fair. Location is fine, tram was walking distance.

United KingdomThe whole building seemed to have the heating on despite it being August, so it was a wall of heat when you walked into the corridors. However, the window open and a fan from reception solved this issue.
Pleased with the accommodation and facilities for the price. Good location next to trams and buses. Plus walking distance to the centre and tourist areas. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe bed linen and pillows could have been better quality. It was hard to control the temperature. It was very hot when we visited. The corridors were like a sauna
Great communication and booking in. The description was good and even though it was basic, the room had everything you'd need. It made a great base for us while we were at the Fringe.

TurkeyThe bed was extremely uncomfortable. I felt sorry for the students who had the sleep on that bed. Plus half of the stowe was not working, also they had shut down the washing machine and the oven. But fine.
I loved that it was so on a budget, clean, safe, and accessible. The kitchen was nice, we cooked our dinner there. The rooms and the kitchen was clean and tidy. We had everything we needed.

The location was very good, from there we had easy access to the city center. There is a 7-11 supermarket and a Starbucks very close. The rooms were ok, matched with the price paid. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The location was very safe.

United KingdomThe bed was terrible: it felt like nothing but springs. Quite noisy because the building is on a main road, even though my room was to the side. Traffic and trams from early in the morning. Bring ear plugs! A bit shabby and the carpet was coarse, holding onto hairs and other bits and pieces. £25 charge for losing the room key. (My own fault but still annoying.)
Good basic accommodation for the Fringe, when it's hard to find places to stay for a reasonable price. Exactly what you would expect from a student room: decent bathroom, bed, desk, small wardrobe, quite spartan. Well equipped shared kitchen. Decent location with a supermarket and cafe downstairs and plenty of places to eat nearby. About a mile from the city centre. Friendly staff who seem to work very hard.
