How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only thing that marred the weekend and has absolutely nothing to do with Vicky or Ian or the Cliveden guest house was the fact that the local wetherspoons was closed due to major refurbishment. Apart from that a very entertaining and enjoyable weekend.
Vicky and Ian were very friendly and helpful from the outset. How you would expect a small business to be, wonderful breakfast 😋

Excellent stay at a clean and well presented guest house. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The location was perfect with the town and beach within a stones throw. All topped off with a superb breakfast. Many thanks.

Room was a bit chilly the first night, but fine after that. Otherwise, no complaints at all, will definitely go back!
Owner very friendly and welcoming, made us feel right at home. Good choice of cooked food for breakfast and friendly atmosphere. Room comfortable and well-designed, with plenty of well-positioned electrical sockets and USB ports. Perfectly situated in quiet area within easy walking distance of seafront and town centre.

Affordable accommodation in the heart of the town. Parking available. Owner was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Room clean and comfortable for the cost. Breakfast was well cooked with lots of choices and again good for the cost.

Great location a short distance from town & the seafront. The room was clean & comfortable with a good selection of teas & coffee available, beautifully cooked breakfast with a good selection to choose from & the owners were friendly, helpful & welcoming. Private parking on site ,always a premium in Devon.

Lovely guest house with great hosts
Location was great so close to shops and restaurants . Breakfast was fabulous so much choice and nothing is to much trouble when ordering .

There was nothing to complain about
The breakfast was amazing, the choices for yoghurt and fresh fruit, cereal 10 choices, and the cooked breakfast came exactly what was ordered The rooms were checked daily and nothing was too much trouble for Vicky and Ian.

Vicky was a great host and made us feel really welcome. The B&B was in a great location for pubs,restaurants and the bus station. The breakfast was superb with plenty of choice.

The Room was ensuite with little touches of exquisite detail -ample tea/coffee/biscuits etc even vegan choices.The room was beautifully decorated and clean.The breakfast choice amazing and cooked to perfection.The location is perfect with the main town of Paignton a short walk (6-10 mins) The beach just 10 mins away. Highly recommended.Perfect hosts .

Lovely excellent choice of breakfast selections, clean room and bathroom. Owners very welcoming and friendly, excellent location near to the beach and pier. I would highly recommend staying here.

Only thing was no clean mugs each day, a bit difficult to wash in sink👍
Fabulous stay. Great,happy fun hosts. Met on arrival and help with bags. Great meeting and chatting to the other guests too,sharing our days out. Close to everything. Did not want to come home. Weather was fab, will be back in spring and summer i hope.x
