Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomProvide more hooks or shelves in each bathroom so we can hang our clothes or place shower gels, etc.
1. Quietness and a good place to simply sleep after a hard day work in London. 2. I also like the iron drawers under the bed, they let you store your laptop in safety (but bring your own padlock). 3. The kitchen at the basement is good place to work and socialise.

United KingdomRooms a bit cramped. Lots of traffic noise- I don't think the windows are double glazed so I had a really broken nights sleep. Breakfast was ok- cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, salad, but NO BUTTER just vegan spread which limited my options which was disappointing. Only given one pillow. Locker quite small, couldn't fit my rucksack it in so be prepared.
Staff really helpful. Close to Kings Cross. Can leave your bags. Kitchen facilities good. Reception had stuff for sale, there's a Co-op next door. Cleaning going on all the time. Good value for money if you take earplugs.

United KingdomThe only improvement would be to put curtains round the bunks for privacy. Otherwise, all good.
Friendly and helpful staff. Accommodated an early check-in (for a small fee). Convenient location and cheap price for London. Good selection of products available to purchase from reception (toiletries, flip flops, etc).

AustraliaMinor issue. It was hard to keep your gear dry when showering. Maybe a couple more hooks and a little shelf high up for your toiletries would be an improvement.
Bed was comfortable. Quiet at night. Location was conveniently close to tube and national rail. Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't use the kitchen but it looked like a great set up.

GermanyThe bunks got quite hot at a temperature of only 25 degrees outside. I don't want to imagine how hot it would get in the summer. The air conditioning was not able to cool it down enough to make the temperature comfortable.
I loved the bunks, they provide a lot of privacy and make the overall experience very enjoyable. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms seem to be cleaned regularly. Good kitchen with everything you would need.

United KingdomThe air in the rooms can be stuffy. Management must find a way to ventilate and allow natural air to come in an refress the air. The can shut down between 10 am and 12 noon and simply open all windows and allow fresh air to circulate.
1. Location, 2. the level of quietness in the rooms. 3. The staff were super accessible even when you lost your keys, they simply reprint. 4. Staff are ready to answer any questions. 5. The staff dressing make them look so simple like any other customer. 6. The staff allow you to sit in the lobby, where you can eat snacks or use your laptop.

United StatesThe room was insanely, absurdly hot at night. There were 4 bunkbeds in my room, which meant that there was one bed up against both windows, and if the person sleeping there didn't want the windows open, we had to sweat it out all night. Also the hostel had a no outside alcohol policy, which I could understand if they didn't sell their own alcohol at the front desk. Overall, the hostel had an ok vibe--Definitely not a party hostel (while I was there).
The property is in a convenient location near King's Cross and seems to be well-secured with locks on all the doors. Plenty of female-only rooms and bathrooms and everything was generally pretty clean, despite the decor in the lobby looking a bit outdated.

United KingdomOne washbasin in the girls bathroom and one in the room isn't much, especially as they are quite small and there is no space for a small toiletries bag. No issues this time but maybe because I slept in.

AustraliaThere was only 1 sink in the women’s bathroom which meant you had to line up to wash your hands. There’s no bench at the sink either so you have to hold your things.
The location is the best part. It’s only a 5 minute walk to Kings Cross/St Pancras. There’s a bunch of restaurants and stores surrounding the hostel.
