Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomPerfect apartment in a lovely area of town. Minutes from the beach and local restaurants and bars. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and the owner has thought of everything you could possibly need for a quality break. Some extra touches such as Sky Q TV, Coffee machine and Nest Thermostat puts this up with one of the best holiday lets we have stopped in. The car park could be seen from the window and was free during our out of season stop and a permit provided any other time. Our dog loved it as well and the local park was only a minute away for any quick walks. Thank you.

This apartment is in a great position with just a short walk to the centre and has a fabulous view across to the Abbey. There is nearby parking which is a plus in Whitby and it is very clean, well-equipped and comfortable. Great communication from the friendly owner. Highly recommended.

United KingdomWe couldn’t find the hallway light switch when we first arrived and my partner tripped on the stairs and sprained his ankle. It would be better having automatic lights as it’s very dark in the hallway and on the stairs even in the daytime. Wouldn’t stop us returning though - at least we know where the light switch is now!

The location was 20-30 min casual walk to the town centre of Whitby so perfect for us. Parking was at back of apartment so could see our car from living room window. Was great having sky/netflix and added bonus was the coffee machine (Tassimo). Had a welcome text from the owners to make sure everything was ok. Info/arrival book was provided which was useful and had an online guide sent before our arrival. Loved our stay here and would definitely book again.

Parking was easy and very close to property (a few yards away) with a permit that was included with the stay. This would definitely be my first choice on next visit to Whitby.

The apartment was situated in the most perfect place for our needs. My only disappointment was with Host and Stay who did not get us the second parking permit that was requested and when I got to the apartment I called them and they said we hadn't paid for it via an invoice. I agree I did not receive an invoice but I know they took £10, which is what they were charging us for the second permit. They said it was for a breakage deposit. Be careful about the hidden fees, which I hasten to add is NOTHING to do with the apartment owners. They were really fantastic people and couldn't do enough to help you. We will most certainly stay there again :)

We are very keen to recycle our waste created, yet there was no facility in the kitchen to be able to do this. We took ours home! When on holiday we don’t really expect to bring our recyclables home with us.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say was the double bunk bed in smaller room could be a bit of a problem for people who have some mobility issues as tight and low.
Spacious rooms with lovely decor. Brought own food as accommodation only but lovely touch with a pint of milk, coffee and a packet of biscuits left for us on arrival. Kitchen well equipped. Location was excellent to venue that we were going to over the weekend. The communication from the host and stay and the owner was exceptional.
