Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had to keep the windows shut otherwise we could hear sounds constantly (from the engine room / generator?). The air conditioner in the room saved the ‘night’.

United KingdomStayed in the hotel a number of times and seen some changes to the "operation". Breakfast room has moved again. Preferred it when it was in the "Morning Room" or the Dining room as these rooms have outlook onto the garden.
Stayed in the hotel a number of times and seen some changes. Staff, as always, are excellent and friendly and managed to get Pizzas on late(ish) checkin. Rooms are very comfortable and a very good size. Grounds are well kept and mature. (previously stayed when there was an Archeological dig at the end of the garden - but this has now been covered up now so no evidence remaining). Good for a corporate event - there were two during the weekend following our stay. Didn't eat in the restaurant this time so unfortunately can't comment on the food.

United KingdomI was surprised and dismayed that on the last of my three mornings, a couple were allowed into the restaurant for breakfast accompanied by two dogs. I chose this hotel because I believed they didn't allow pets so I just hope that the dogs hadn't been accommodated in one of the bedrooms overnight. Also, bath robes are not provided in the deluxe rooms - not a big issue but the booking website needs to amend the incorrect inclusion.
The ground floor bar, lounges and restaurant have been refurbished to a very high standard. All of the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent as was the service. The ensuite in our deluxe room was new and to a high standard, the style of the bedroom furnishings was in keeping with the age of the hotel. It's an old building so expect uneven and creaking floors to all be part of the experience. The owners have big plans for expansion here and I shall look forward to a return visit to see how they progress.

United KingdomI couldn't fault it. It was a perfect retreat for me, even though I travelled for business. I liked the rather remote setting. although the narrow roads may be not for everyone, it was still accessible even in a large SUV
Just a great stay, with very friendly and attentive staff. Fabulous cooked breakfast and very efficient and speedy service. There was an event taking place in the grounds when I was there but there was no real noise intrusion, although it made parking at a premium but was still possible

United KingdomThought the excellent evening meals were a little overpriced and not many alternatives.
We were given an excellent room - large with settee - but after the first night we suggested that there should be bedside lamps to stop having to get out of bed to switch off nearest bedside lights, also that the settee was in the wrong position (couldn’t see TV). The suggestions were immediately acted upon - bedside lights, settee moved (and in the process more helpful sockets revealed).

United KingdomNothing - it was all perfect
This hotel ticks all the boxes. It's totally different to all the hotel chains, with quirky artwork and beautiful rooms. The staff are exceptional, very welcoming and professional, and once again I must thank Dash for being such a charming and entertaining cocktail-maker extraordinaire. The staff really can't do enough for you and they made us feel so welcome again. Our room was perfect, comfortable and cool. The breakfasts are exceptional here - I was already dreaming of having the Eggs Benedict again after loving it last month, but we were both tempted by the Full English and it exceeded our expectations. We were made to feel at home, and that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Although we were in Norwich to visit a very frail friend and that was stressful, the kindness and professionalism of the staff helped us to unwind and relax between visits. If you're looking for a hotel that's not like all the others, want to feel pampered and enjoy beautiful surroundings, then don't bother to look any further than this treasure of a hotel.

United KingdomI was in room 9 which had a lovely view of the kitchen fan venting system, which also made the gorgeous wood sash window rattle when it was operating..... however it was turned off early evening until 8 in the morning.
Everything outstanding in terms of location, staff, food, grounds, etc. Barman had a hysterical dry sense of humour 🤣 We will a return again soon.
