Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt had a few really nice touches like home made biscuits and fruit in the room. The owner was super helpful with our plans (we were on a walking trip so we arrived late and muddy). The breakfast options looked great, we just had a fryup for maximum energy! The self service bar has a good selection of drinks too.

United KingdomThe entrance to the carpark at the back of the property is very narrow, I'm glad my husband was driving and not me!! That being said, there was free parking on the street just outside and I believe a car park near by as well.
Located at the end of the village within easy driving distance of things to do and see. The choice for breakfast was superb, plenty of fruit/yoghurt, different cereals and fruit juices as well as homemade cakes and rolls, and that was before we even started on the choices for cooked breakfasts, which were plentiful and well presented.

United KingdomNothing. It was all fantastic
This place is in a completely different class. Everything about it is perfect - the bowl of fruit in each room, the high quality tea and real coffee sachets, the mini fridge with a little bottle of real milk inside and the home made biscuits there to welcome you. The real feather down duvet, spacious shower, and luxury (locally sourced) toiletries. The breakfasts are amazing: fantastic fresh bread, fresh fruit, home baked cakes (which we could smell baking the afternoon before). My scrambled egg with salmon came with a huge amount of salmon. the packed lunch (we were hiking part of the Pennine Way) was by far the best we had during our holiday but also the cheapest. This cost a similar amount to all the places we stayed during our hike - less than several - but the facilities and food are that of a luxury break worth far more. It was really obvious that for the owner, Andrew, it's simply a matter of pride to make everything the best it can possibly be. The best place we've stayed in for a long time.

United KingdomJust a small word of warning if you arrive by car - the access to the the little car park is very tight between two buildings, there was literally less than an inch to spare on each side!
Friendly, if slightly quiet host (Andrew). Provided helpful directions to where I was working in the evening - in the absolute middle of nowhere! The breakfast was exceptional, absolutely faultless, with loads of choice and very generous too.

United KingdomNothing at all not to like
The B&B was in the perfect location for our stay, the room was spacious clean and comfortable. The little touches made it extra special - fresh fruit in the room, a mini fridge and the honesty bar. Breakfast was outstanding - so much choice including lots of vegan options ❤️ we were full for the day after we’d eaten! (The veggie sausages were the best at we’ve ever had) The B&B is run by Andrew who we cannot fault at all - he made the stay absolutely perfect! We will 100% recommend anyone wanting to visit this part of the world to stay at Brunswick House and we will definitely be back

United KingdomThe narrow archway entrance to the car park at rear requires a steady nerve for drivers of anything above medium-sized, but there's plenty of free public parking close by.
Glorious setting, friendly welcome, super comfy bed, a good dinner at a restaurant next door and a memorable breakfast - ticked every box for an overnight stay on our way back south from Scotland and I didn't even mention the welcoming lounge and honesty bar!

United KingdomRealise this is our problem not that of the property, but couldn’t get vehicle (Amazon Landcruiser) down narrow entrance to car park (we had been warned.) Found street parking no issue, but could be different in high season.

United KingdomNothing much - probably just the lack of soundproofing as you could hear everything in the corridor but it wasn't busy when we were there so it wasn't a problem. I had a bit of eco guilt about the towels being changed every day too (but it was also very lovely).
The rooms were small but delightful, beautifully decorated and with all the little extras we could possibly need - including the usuals (hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities) and some lovely extras (homemade shortbread each day, fruit bowl, robes). I was particularly happy that the bathroom had refillable, plastic-free toiletries and that these included conditioner and hand cream (and bath salts) and not just the usual shampoo/body wash. There were also facecloths which is a rarity. Breakfast was amazing - both the buffet selection and the cooked selection, not to mention the loose leaf tea! Andrew was lovely too - very helpful and went above and beyond posting us something we left behind in the room.
