Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUpon arrival a reception staff member - Sarah - looked myself and my husband up and down and said "Yes?!" We said we would like to check in for our hotel room. She asked what company who we worked for and what did we want - we were not here for work, instead here to celebrate my birthday!! Absolutely shocked at the reception we received, I was so upset! She was very unpleasant, slamming down the paperwork, worst receptionist or people skills I have ever experienced! The general hotel had old fashioned decor but was clean, warm and good for the cost. We had a drink in the bar which was pleasant. We then decided to pay for the internet. The internet was free in public area but only available at a cost of £7 in rooms. I went to reception and had to speak to the same unpleasant woman. I asked to pay for the internet and once again she looked me up and down and said "but it will cost you £7!" Yes, I replied. She scowled at me and made such an issue whilst sighing and slamming down the paper with the internet code. I was genuinely confused as to why I had received this sort of reaction a second time also! But the other people checking in made shocked comments about her attitude, and the other receptionist apologised for this. Our room was dated. The TV remote did not work. The Curtain had what looked like blood stains on it. The ceiling lamp has MANY dead Flies caught in it, so much as to reduce the lighting! My party discussed this and joked it would possibly be a fire issue...at which point we realised there was an empty frame on the back of the door and no escape instructions. Whilst we could all overlook the room inconveniences, especially as the cost of the room was reasonable - None of my party will return due to the sheer rude attitude of the Receptionist. I would strongly urge you to look at the training of this individual - as everyone else was incredible (Great Bar Staff, Other Receptionists etc).
We like the Spa facilities, the hotel and the grounds looked incredible! Lovely and well stocked bar. Bar staff & Spa staff very kind and friendly.

United KingdomThe rooms are a bit tired, in need of a coat of paint and there's some stains in places which I don't want to know what they are, this has probably meant that I've scored it a bit harshly. The local town doesn't seem to have much going on.
It's a nice building, in close proximity to a nice park. The food was good (although the brown sauce is quite sweet). Reasonable value. It's easy to walk into the local town, where there are a few nice pubs. It's a convenient location for my work.

United KingdomThe room was on the lower level which meant the floorboards of the room above and the staircase alongside were particularly noisy. Quirk of old building I'm sure, but not helpful when trying to sleep.
Great location, beautiful old manor house that had lovely gardens to walk in. Room was a good size.

United KingdomThe receptionist lady who checked me in was extremely rude and the manager (Ash) was no better. They were blatantly nice to all customers around me but not me, they clearly had a personal issue with me. I paid for the room but didn’t stay the night. I asked if it would still be ok to use the gym facilities in the morning as I had already paid but it was a straight no from Ash. She didn’t want to be nice or provide good customer service. I am aware that she could have allowed me to use the facilities the next morning before check out time especially considering I had paid for the room but she didn’t want to help. She had a power trip as the manager and the person who makes the decision and used it to be a b*tch. Maybe she doesn’t believe in karma
The gym staff, restaurant man and Starbucks staff were really friendly and helpful

Nice room very adequate for us, however, shower was poor and not at all powerful, mattress was not that comfortable either but it all served our purposed, as we were only there for one night. My son lives just down the road so we will be returning

United KingdomIt took almost 30 minutes to check in - our whole party had paid differing fees for a double room, which transpires is also different per room. I was not informed an out the car park situation - found out from someone in our party. The room was tiny, noisy and very tired and worn down. We were unable to get food, I’ve never known a hotel not have enough food for all its guests - not just once but at breakfast twice and an evening meal. We were passed from service station to service station over what to do with food vouchers / capacity for food. The bridal suite toilet didn’t work for 12 hours with a bridal party of 6 using the room - it took 3 complaints to get fixed. The toilet in our room 52 - struggled to flush, the shower was intermittently too hot to use then too cold - not enjoyable. I’m also covered in bites which I assume is linked to the bedding / room.
We attended for a wedding, the wedding side of the Hall was wonderful, couldn’t fault the attentiveness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, the service was phenomenal and the food was divine. A quick comment on a particular team member, Jackson, who just could not do enough for any of us - he was just so great I can’t find words to say how great he was. Finished his shift at 8:30 but stayed until almost midnight!

United KingdomOur room seriously needs updating, bathroom ridiculously small, I'm 6ft 4 and the shower barely reached my chest! WiFi options should be better than what's on offer in this day and age, free wifi in some areas was minimal at best. Dining room needs expanding and revamping. You shouldn't have to queue for a table for 2 when you're asked to book a dining slot. Buffet needs to be better organised and variety of food on offer needs improving, not everyone wants chicken! Also empty serving dishes need replenishing more promptly. Overall it felt like they are trying to put guest numbers above the guest experience.
Beautiful facade greets you as you arrive, staff pleasant, water hot, food well cooked, nice courtyard bar area.

United KingdomAll good finished at 8pm. Although we asked about food and were told to go to the bar as the restaurant was shut - there was no food at 8:10m from either! If we’d known we would have gone down to the bar earlier! No warning and burned us … Water in room was a scolding hot - without having a mixer tap this level of temperature is inappropriate for guests as it felt like burning. The shower temperature was at its virtual lowest temperature to try to get as much cold water mixed with hot as possible

United KingdomThe rooms are a little dated and wonky floor where the tv unit was which made the tv wonky, but not a problem, especially for the price and seen as I was a solo traveller, it really wasn't an issue as it was a nice room to relax in. The bed wasn't very comfortable for me, but this is not to say it wouldn't be for others. And the noise of people entering their rooms letting the doors slam shut and walking down the corridors from around 10pm on and off until around 3am shouting, was terrible, I've never heard noise like it. But, again, I was solo travelling so the interrupted sleep didn't bother me as I could lay in. If however I'd have been with my children, I would have been annoyed at this as I wouldn't have had much sleep and my children would have certainly woken up with the noise. But this isn't the fault of the hotel, just guests being inconsiderate. I would return if I was solo travelling again as the price is amazing and loved relaxing in the spa and room.
Was a lovely overnight break and can't fault it for the price. The spa was great for only £4, and the grounds were lovely. The room was nice for the price too. I didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food. Loved the big windows and peaceful morning looking out.

United StatesNo cell service (4G or phone service) in the room. They probably do that to persuade you to pay for the WiFi. Bathroom in particular is very outdated. Staff could be a little more service oriented. When I asked for clean bed sheets I didn't need to hear: 'we don't normally do that' three times, especially not after I explained my partner has a disability that caused the need for clean sheets.
