How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The restaurant staff on the Friday 12 were slow and unattentive - stood around chatting rather than seeing too the customers.
The breakfast was superb, and the food dining in the evening was great. The bar staff were very friendly and professional. The restaurant staff on Thursday 11 were great.

We loved it all!
Rooms were excellent and very clean. We had a twin room overlooking the front of the hotel so it was lovely to sit and watch the world go by after a great day of walking. Meals were tasty, staff were friendly and helpful, car parking was great (and free!).

Only one problem in our room , the divan was collapsing under the mattress on both sides , creating a noise, we did report this to staff, hopefully to be fixed.
The breakfast was very good and plenty of it, we ate there one evening , the fish was superb and all other meals were hot and tasty, there was great service all round.

Because it is such a popular pub, our room at the front of the building was affected in the evenings by the noise of customers sitting outside. If we stayed here again we would request a room at the rear of the building.
Superb location for the beaches, canal, cliffs and town. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts very good.

It was all positive
The hotel is well situated for the SW coast path. Staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. The evening meal menu was good as was the breakfast.

The only small issue I had was with sound. Being above a pub I expected noise and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't any. I heard more from the room next to me with their TV up loud than the pub downstairs. There was also building works opposite through no fault of the hotel but that did wake me up with a jolt, and there was some noise when they had a beer delivery as the yard was directly under my room. This was at around 8am both mornings of my stay. If you're sensitive to sound just be aware of the potential of noise and perhaps bring ear plugs. None of it was a big problem for me and I would absolutely stay here again.
The rooms are beautifully furnished and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The location is fantastic. They use local produce which I think is a really lovely touch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was lovely.

Breakfast was included in our room; the kipper was huge and delicious! The room was clean and very comfortable. Dinner had the classic pub meals; big portions at a reasonable price.

Were satisfied with our stay
First time visiting Bude and this was ideal location. Very friendly staff made you welcome. Food was excellent. was good you could have a walk and then settle in for the evening. Would recommend

Shower flexible hose was dirty and had black mould in the sections.
Location was perfect. Room was good and front facing so had a bit of noise until closing time but I expected that, it is a pub after all. Breakfast was great and lots of choice and restaurant meals were very good value. Staff were very busy but friendly and tried to be as attentive as possible.
