How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The rooms need a bit of upgrading to modernise them. The bathrooms look time warped in the 1990's. The tops on the taps were missing and the bathrooms did feel a bit shabby. However the shower was powerful and good. There was a lot of noise at night from pub customers of the bar of the hotel sitting outside. However by 11.30pm the noise was usually gone.
Excellent location for the hotel and a bus stop just a metre away that had regular buses into Newcastle for £2. Clean room and comfy bed. Really friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of food at breakfast.

I didn't really like the size of the shower. I'm not specially overweight and I have found uncomfortable the space to have a shower. Also, the noisy ventilation machines close to my windows. :(
The friendly staff and the decoration of the room. The room was really clean. Hairdryer and amenities in the room. The breakfast had a variety of savory and sweet food. :)

We stayed in the accessible room as the only double available. The floor creaked really badly every time you walked on it and you could hear everything from the room next door. We think that was because it had an inter connecting door.
Location was good, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good

As it was a hot day rooms would have benefited from air conditioning as it was very hot inside but that was the only criticism I could make
Location was really good 20 minute walk to the town breakfast was excellent staff really friendly rooms were clean if a little dated would definitely stay there again

Tried to eat evening meal, what a disaster . Staff not aware of menu or wine choices if in stock after 40 Minutes told no steak but could go to local shop if we are prepared to wait. No we aren’t!!

Found the beds slightly hard and shower was difficult to control.
Friendly staff well equipped room clean and tidy. Coffee Tea Biscuits and complimentary bottles of water. Good breakfast plenty of choice. We would definitely stay here again.

Carpets on the landing needed pinning down in parts for h and s reasons before they get too bad.
Convenient location for our purpose. Lovely breakfast. Very helpful staff.

The car park is a very small for the hotel and down a back street so I didn't feel like my car was safe, but I have to say there wasn't any real problems and I did find the one car space that was left.

I appreciate that the breakfast is intended to meet the needs of bulk travellers - there was a bus tour also staying over - however the breakfast was extremely basic and narrow in selection. More fruit and healthier options would be good.
I was travelling alone on a very expensive motorcycle and the reception staff were extremely helpful and supportive in allowing me to park close to and within sight of the reception desk. I really appreciated that personal touch.

The main thing was that large parts of the dining room had been reserved for a coach trip, despite getting into the restaurant at 7 a.m so I was restricted from sitting where I liked. In the bedroom one switch controlled 4 lights, there was no individual bed side lamp.
It had on site parking and was generally a nice hotel.

The hotel is a short walk from West Jesmond metro station in a lovely residential area with a few shops and restaurants nearby. My single room was very comfortable and quiet. The reception staff were very welcoming.

Room was a bit cold (rainy May weekend), towel heater not on. Breakfast in the bar area so-so but overall good, ran out but staff were kind to top it up.
