How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There was nothing not to like
The owner was really friendly and had great banter , even got I'm on a few jokes with the boys. Great value for money and great facilities would recommend 10/10

Breakfast was good...tea, coffee, fruit juice and toast, didn't need anything else thank you. Staff were very welcoming, explained everything and locked down some belongings for me overnight. Would stay again

Lee, the owner was incredibly accommodating, fantastic communication and very friendly. We had bathroom facilities within the dorm which was great. Slept well, mattress was comfortable. There were breakfast facilities you could help yourself to in the kitchen area too. Would recommend and will certainly stay again next time we're in Newquay!

Just a couple of hiccups…the initial key to our room didn’t work and the shower was hard to turn on and off; however, Lee rectified both immediately! Thank you Lee, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Breakfast facilities were excellent. The owner, Lee, was extremely helpful, pleasant and flexible. Would definitely recommend to others and would certainly stay at The Blue Room again! We were sorry to leave!

The owner of the hostel was extremily nice and helpful. There was breakfast included and the position of it is very good, near to the beach and to the bus/train station.

The owners very friendly, helpful, and great at offering suggestions and ideas about places to visit. It was very welcoming and a really friendly atmosphere, exactly how traditional backpackers used to be! It was spotlessly clean and well managed, and with a variety of age groups staying, great quiet location, but yet everything on your doorstep!

1-The doors slamming are not enjoyable as they just need adjustment and buffers. 2-Although the toilet was always clean, I truly suggest leaving some disinfectant for the toilet seat. It also needs more hooks for towels and clothes otherwise we have to leave things on the toilet floor 3- When I book my room, it only states 'a male dormitory room'. There is no information about how many beds are there. If I knew there were 11 beds, I wouldn't have booked it. Nevertheless, as it was empty, it didn't affect my stay. 4- I didn't see any box for leaving the key if the check out is too early.
The location and staff were excellent.

Old carpet
It was a cosy friendly place. It's being a lovely place, good value for money per night! It's an old I'll repeat it in the future!Very comfortable beds and super close to the train station and city centre.
