Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCan’t think of anything we did not like.
Lovely cottage, beautifully and thoughtfully furnished in an excellent and convenient location. Equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We would definitely return. Hosts left us a card and Easter egg which was a nice touch.

United KingdomPerhaps the TV was a bit small as we both struggled reading the words on it. But maybe if we brought our distance glasses it would have helped

The location was excellent. Very peaceful and gorgeous scenery. The cottage was comfortable and the wood burning stove was a wonderful feature, especially for November in Scotland. The little note left for us made us feel welcome.

United KingdomThere genuinely wasn't anything at all that we didn't like! Obviously a lot of careful thought has gone into making the cottage such perfect self catering holiday accommodation. I can honestly say that Blairchroisk Cottage is probably the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in - thank you!
The cottage is perfect - very comfortable and spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped with really good cooking equipment and crockery. The beds are really comfortable and the bedding is lovely quality. The bathroom is a good size and there is a large shower which is great. There is a beautiful garden and a good sized table and four chairs on a paved patio area, perfect for dining outside in the lovely weather we had during our stay. Blairchroisk Cottage is situated in a beautiful area, only about 5 miles from Pitlochry. It is very pretty and peaceful - just the lovely sound of the birds and some sheep in the field at the bottom of the garden. We even heard a cuckoo! We would class Blairchroisk Cottage as at least 5 star self catering accommodation - right at the top - and certainly will recommend it to anyone hoping to visit that area. I spoke to Neil when I booked the cottage earlier in the year, and also to Erica at the start of the holiday and they are both really pleasant and friendly and very helpful. My sister in law is disabled and we found the cottage very suitable for her as it is all on one level inside. She found the stone steps down to the cottage a little bit of a challenge, but with help, she was able to negotiate them. Going into the garden was easier for her as she was able to go down the gentle grassy slope rather than down steps. (She finds a flat surface easier to negotiate than steps). She loved the garden seat outside the door and enjoyed sitting there enjoying the sun.

United KingdomA beautiful and well equipped cottage in a perfect location for our holiday and all the attractions of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, the Tay valley and the surrounding countryside. The views from the cottage across the valley, and the gorgeous garden which was still flowering in October, were also a great surprise!

United KingdomIt would be nice to have some spices, oil, etc available for cooking with, and maybe a pint of milk left in the fridge for a welcome cup of tea. Most places we stay in have a good selection of things like this, as you don't want to have to bother to buy a whole pot of herbs, etc, when only staying for a week. Other than this, we had an amazing stay and wouldn't hesitate to return/recommend to others.
Perfect location for us - very rural with walks for the dog on the doorstep - but only 15 mins drive to Pitlochry with a large co-op and multiple lovely shops. The garden is amazing, fully enclosed for the dog to run around safely, with stunning views. The lounge is very cosy, and the beds extremely comfortable. The kitchen has most hardware that you could need for cooking, and the oven heats up very quickly. The washing machine was very appreciated on arrival, since we'd spent the previous few days walking various mountains. We did use the heating a few times, and the cottage heats up so quickly, making it very cosy. The bathroom is great with plenty of hot water, even for four of us having showers one after the other.

United KingdomThis cottage was perfect for our 4 day break in Pitlochry with our new puppy. It was very well equipped and very comfortable and warm. The garden was lovely and we found excellent dog walks in the local forest. Lots of thought had gone into Covid planning which was great. Ideal base for day trips to Blair Castle, House of Bruar and Killiecrankie but also perfect for relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove.
