Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLack of lift was a little bit of an issue for me, but nothing too major. On one of the days a housekeeping tried to open my room before I had a chance to respond to the knock. This was reported to the receptionist and delt with efficiently.
I was staying in Avonbridge to attend friends wedding. Hotel is located within a walking distance from the bus/train station and town centre, which for me was an ideal location. Very friendly and helpful staff, added bonus I was able to get a wake up call from the reception at the day and time requested. Delicious food in a restaurant, reasonably priced. Very good breakfast with plenty options to choose from. Room was clean and tidy.

United KingdomBathroom was a bit old fashioned. Having to climb into a bath for a shower is a little bit health and safety questionable. The hotel front door was locked when we got back from our function. Took several minutes for someone to come and let us in despite the fact it was raining. The 'night porter' was then not very friendly.
The room was good and clean. Good TV and a very comfy bed.

United KingdomThence to breakfast, and here I have to say I was disappointed on several fronts. The cereal selection was cornflakes, rice krispies or weetabix - no meusli or bran flakes or granola. The juices were ok, but the coffee was terribly weak and very disappointing. Then there was only sliced white bread provided so I asked about brown or granary - there was nothing else offered or available. The sausages were fat little things about 5cm long and overcooked so very firm and dry and bland and tasteless. The bacon was overcooked, the scrambled eggs and everything was left out in warmers for the 'help yourself' buffet. Trouble is, it requires some degree of monitoring and helping to keep everything optimal and not dried up, but that was seemingly not part of the training for the two teenage boys working (clearing tables as everything else is self-service). They did little else except stand around looking stunned and bringing out more food occasionally. Because of this lack of attention, the beans were dry and crusty, the mushrooms overcooked and soggy, no tomato offered; the scrambled eggs were dried and crusty and unpleasant looking. I then looked at the crockery and was horrified to see old dried-on food that clearly had not been cleaned off adequately from the first 4 or 5 plates I picked up. Eugh!! Rancid!!
Nice hotel, large capacity and able to cater for weddings. I needed somewhere to stay so plumped for this last minute. Check-in was fine, went to the room - normal standard layout, and clean, except the sink did not drain and the retractable plug needed to be de-haired and cleaned and adjusted so it opened up better to all water to escape. Refreshed, I went to the bar for a pint of lager, and then I went to the dining room for dinner. I was served by two very good waiters - Ousmane and Antonio. I ordered Minestrone soup to start, and a rib-eye steak with chips and "parmesan rocket" for main. I asked Ousmane if it came with anything else, like vegetables, but it turns out it does not, which is quite disappointing if one like to eat a balanced diet not just carbs and proteins. I enquired about any side dishes, as none were shown on the menu. Ousmane assured me the kitchen could create pretty much anything the customer requested, so I ordered a side of the vegetables that accompany another menu dish, and also some onion rings, which were not even listed on the menu. The food was very good; soup was just as I had hoped. Steak was over-cooked but still tasted nice; the chips were good, as was the rocket with cheese, and the sides set it off perfectly. I accompanied the food with a both red Malbec, which worked well with the food. Bed was next, and it was firm. A little noise could be heard from the wedding reception downstairs the night I stayed, but I fell asleep reasonably quickly as I had not slept the night before. Morning I had a shower - good and worked really well, with good water pressure. So, this independent hotel could have had a 4-star review but gets 2 as the breakfast is so poorly served, redeemed to a 3-star owing to the quality of the evening fare & service.

United KingdomWe had dinner with family in the evening but were disappointed by the very limited menu and one of our meals was served nearly cold, although it was replaced by a fresh, hot meal. We thought there would have been other fish dishes and a better selection of chicken, meat and pasta dishes. Again the staff were lovely.
Breakfasts are really good plenty of choice and everything was freshly cooked and hot. Staff were very obliging when I requested hot water as I don't drink tea or coffee.

AustraliaThe hotel rooms are very dated and in desperate need of renovations. The wi-fi is poor and in need of extra routers and extenders. Although the rooms are fitted with heaters there are no fans or air-conditioning which was extremely frustrating and made it hard to sleep.
A nice hotel with a great restaurant and bar. Not too far from the town centre and the train to get into Glasgow. The staff were polite and helpful and the room was comfortable enough.

United KingdomAfter reading some of the negative reviews I was slightly worried about our stay. The hotel is fine and clean, it just needs a bit of tlc. and maybe some paint. The breakfast was also good and the bar food was very good, the staff were friendly too. For the price I thought it was good value and would have no issue staying there again.

United KingdomIt’s an old building so don’t expect to much in the way of sound proofing, you will hear some noise early evening/ late morning, breakfast is buffet style so if you like a nice fresh breakfast get down there early for fresh pickings or you may have rubber bacon ect All in all a good hotel Iwould stay again 👀👍
Found the hotel to be very comfortable, everything you need around, set in a good location, plenty of parking. the hotel itself has a really good old fashioned style/character, we enjoyed staying in it. Staff were very helpful and friendly always happy to help an ideal stop over if your travelling.
