Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThe only thing that I wish was included in the apartment would be a coffee press or a coffee machine. Fortunately, there is a coffee place right on the opposite side of the apartment .
The place was great, the location as well and the communication was also great. Whatever was needed there was always almost immediate reply, which was important.

United KingdomWe felt that there could have been more appliances for a self catering flat, such chopping boards and cleaning products. We also found the beds a little hard.
It was clean, the host was super friendly and helpful and the location was nice and central.

IrelandThe biggest issue is that they requested a £500 deposit on arrival to the apartment to be paid in cash. This was not stated prior to making the booking. It did state it in a post-booking email, but it was too late at that stage as I had paid for the apartment. I think this must be intentional, because I would not have booked it if I thought I had to pay a £500 cash deposit with no comeback if they just decided to keep it. 7 Rating is mainly because of this. I'd give it an 8-9 otherwise. I have no issue paying a deposit, once it's through the booking site by credit card and has some rules and ability to get it back easily. This was a big issue for me, so we refused to pay the deposit and they accepted that. In general, the apartment was nice, clean, good facilities, good showers and toilets and a nice kitchen. However, there was a constant dull humming sound from the heating or air conditioning system that seemed to be there 24 hours a day. I sleep well so was not a major issue for me. The heating system was complex and no clear instructions on how to adjust it. The following are minor items directed to the owner / host to address, and would not stop me from renting this apartment again: - No sharp cutting knives, bin holder broken, only one frying pan which was warped and so didnt sit flat on hob and so didnt heat properly, only 1 bedside locker in main bedroom (so all my bedside stuff had to go on the ground next to the bed), only one teaspoon, no thongs and general poor supply of utensils. There were no instructions on using any of the equipment like you would get in a good AirBnB.
Check-in was fairly seamless. instructions on access, keys, and the apartment were also ok.

NetherlandsThe beds were definitely a huge let down. It was described as 2 bedrooms with 2 double beds. One of the double beds was about 110 cm wide by 180 cm long. I don't consider this a double bed. And the bigger bedroom had a bed which was about 160 cm wide by 200 cm long. With no pull out couch available it was a pretty cramped sleeping arrangement for 4 fully grown people. Also a bit weird is that the towels were changed but the garbage wasn't removed nor toilet paper added. We also missed a coffee maker in the kitchen. The furniture in the living room was a bit dated (torn seating on the chairs etc). And there was a constant smell of weed which we thought was quite funny. Location wise it was ok for connecting underground and busses. Plenty of supermarkets nearby. Not really a restaurant location. Oeh and the cash deposit was horribly inconvenient because when you come from abroad first drawing cash and then exchanging it back to own currency will easily cost you a substantial amount.
It was a very spacious apartment, we loved the balcony and my daughters loved Netflix on the tv. Shower had a decent water pressure. Very clean overall.

RomaniaPoor state of the common areas and interior finishing, lack of overall recurrent repairs although building was relatively new. Wall stains and chipped furniture and tableware, dirty couch and stinky duvet, defective windows, very poor internet service.
Hospitable and patient host. Very good value for the location: quiet area in the vicinity of the City and Tower of London and close to Underground stations and amenities. Decent apartment with all necessities in the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. Good heating.

GermanyThe £500 cash deposit is a bit of a problem. But we were able to pay it in euros and got it back the evening before we left. However, it would be nicer to have the option of paying the deposit by card. The flat was equipped with everything except a hairdryer, which would have been good.
Very nice quiet place near Tower Bridge. Nice host who was easy to contact via Whats App. Check in went smoothly and the housekeeper was very nice. A fairly quiet place (apart from some noise on Saturday night from the pub next door) which we really liked.

Belgium- No early check-in possible, and check out ensure to have the time formally agreed, we lost 2h on the morning by waiting them, - huge garantie to be provided in cash, - only 1 towel per person available, - no coffee machine (Nescafé powder provided), - the mattresses are ultra soft, - the building does not have a street number, so we spend time to know where to stop.
We have a number to contact before arriving, they are flexible for welcoming. The person is nice and attentive, ensuring we have everything at the check-in. The appartement is located not so far from bus and metro (10min food), and it is corresponding to the description and pictures.

AustraliaDidn't read the T&Cs and was therefore shocked by the 500GDP holding deposit (which I got back in full). Also HAD to be cash not credit card, most unusual. I used the bathroom with the bath-shower. OH&S issue - no anti-slip mat or rail to hold on to (quite a high bath). Pointed this out to the manager when he did his final inspection. AC doesn't work properly - manager said it was underfloor heating. If this was the case, turn it off and reset the in home displays so that they operate correctly. Must be costing a fortune in electricity bills per apartment.
Spacious apartment, well appointed. Opening windows.
