Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIf you have a top bunk, it is worthwhile to bring an eyemask as some guests may turn the lights on at late hours. There is a bar downstairs which can be loud, so if you are sensitive to noise, it's worth bringing earplugs.
I needed a place to stay for a single night in Paris. This location is great for many connections, right between Gare du Nord (and access to DeGaulle airport) and Gare de l'Est. The dorm is comfortable enough, with a bit of privacy for each bed and easy access to bathrooms. Exactly what I was looking for overall.

United KingdomI missed organization during the festivities scheduled for the week in the bar connected to the hostel. The mattresses on the beds are worn out, causing back pain, the drawers under the beds need maintenance, they are noisy and some are broken.
The good location, close to Gare dy Norde station for those who use Eurostar like me, helps a lot, close to Montmartre, the distances make it possible to walk to some destinations such as the Eifell Tower. I liked the bar integrated with the Hostel,

NorwayI find 50 euros quite steep for a bed in a 10 people room, but that‘s Paris.
It’s well located. Building is well maintained and beds are solid and the whole setup is quite nice (e.g. beds have curtains and energy outlets). Staff was nice too.

United KingdomThere was no lift access to the locker room which was a bit of a pain. The shared bathrooms had two shower stalls right next to two toilets stalls which worked fine technically but there was some mild flooding after showers. Showers were always clean when I used them. There was an old man who slept in the bunk underneath mine which made me uncomfortable throughout the stay through no fault of the hostel, but I may opt to stay in a women's dorm for future trips to France.
The front desk let me check in a few hours early though I couldn't access the room yet, the staff were overall very helpful and kind. The beds are much wider than expected and quite comfortable, there's multiple easily accessible sockets above the bed and a ledge to keep small things. The room itself was spacious with large windows, a desk and chair, as well as a sink area with a mirror and hooks. I really liked the vending machines in the lobby. I didn't make use of them but there were washers, dryers and a microwave in the common room that I imagine must be useful. Noise wasn't an issue for my particular room on the second floor. Location was obviously super accessible, less than a minute walk from Gare du Nord which houses the Eurostar, rer and multiple metro lines that gets you anywhere in Paris and beyond.

United KingdomCommon area seats very few people. I was aware that there was only a microwave and kettle but the microwave was usually dirty. It was very warm so had to choose between opening the windows and hearing the loud streets or being roasted. Pillows were not comfy.
Great location right next to Gare du Nord for easy metro to everywhere in Paris. Lots of places to eat or drink locally at cheaper prices than those closer to the Seine. Beds were good and I like the privacy curtains in the dorms.

It was close to the train station, restaurants, and public transportation. I was in the female section and I felt secure.

AustriaNot the cleanest of places, I found an old piece of chocolate between the mattress and the bed frame.. also could be cause it was the weekend, but loud music was playing till late at night, and not even closing the windows helped escape the noise
Location really is great for connections, other than that the sinks in the room were convenient

IrelandThe noise from the PUB on the ground floor, owned by the hostel, going up to the rooms till late night is NOT nice, besides not having an actual common area (not considering the pub) and a real kitchen with sink and cutlery. The pillows were trash, really bad, they could improve on that.
Very close to the metro Gare du Nord, good point, not too far from the city centre and main attractions. Breakfast is a considerable choice.

CanadaThe showers. We only had 2 showers for a couple of dorms and the drains were blocked. Which creates a lake that goes in the corridor every time someone takes a shower. Also, one shower didn’t have any hot water. You can’t adjust the temperature of the water either. Pretty small and your things end up being wet at the end of the shower.
It was close to the Gare du Nord, but I don’t recommend the district where the emplacement is. It was overall pretty great. Cheap breakfast, cheap night. I’ve seen a lot worst.

NetherlandsThere was an additional tax I apparently had to pay of 2 euros upon arrival. It's not a lot but it did surprise me. Furthermore, if you arrive early you cannot drop off your luggage at the hostel as up until check-in you have to buy a locker for €8 per day. Instead I went to the luggage drop off 4 blocks away at Gare du Nord which was cheaper.
I loved the easy-going nature of the personnel, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and very practical. Generally speaking it was very cleanly and the location is perfect as it is only two blocks away from Gare Du Nord metro and train station.
