Not enough room to store our large baggage in our particular room and no lift from the ground floor means carrying heavy bags. Next time we would try and book a larger room and ask staff for assistance with bags.

We loved the decor and attention to detail and the hotel is in an excellent location. We are travelling for 13 weeks and have substantial luggage that impacts on accessibility and storage. I was envious of other guests who arrived for a weekend getaway with only small roll on bags as the initial stairs (lift is available from second floor) and small room would not have impacted them the way it did us. I would gladly give this hotel full marks if we were travelling lightly and to be fair perhaps there were bigger rooms that we weren’t aware of. We also probably need to be more forthcoming in asking for assistance with baggage when having to deal with lots of stairs. However the staff were lovely and we appreciated the tea/coffee and fridge in our room that’s often not present in other hotels and would definitely return.

The staff was excellent - friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The location of the hotel was excellent - with shopping, restaurants and transport all within a few minutes walking. The bed was very comfortable as well.

There is no avoiding the fact that there is no elevator up to the reception/first floor. But that was a very minor inconvenience to be expected while travelling in Europe.

The room was beautifully furnished with historical details including the lighting and plumbing. Shower was fabulous and the bed was absolutely glorious and we are not exaggerating! The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We did not want to leave except that the location was perfect - a two minute walk to the old town one way and back onto the mainland the other.

There is nothing we didn't like about the hotel.

This is a hotel with extraordinary vision. Painstakingly refurbished, care, the detail, the quality - and that word again, the - vision - and the courage to actually have the vision and see it through. In an age of functional boring hotels, the owner and his staff - Pierre & co - deserve huge plaudits. Conceivably the most beautiful hotel breakfast room I've ever had the good fortune to eat in.

The room was a bit smaller than expected, but still super cosy.

Very great location in the center of the city center, with very friendly staff. The interior and furniture were vintage in a very authentic style. Breakfast variety was a bit limited, but therefore everything offered was of the highest quality.

The "bath in the room" is not the same as the private bathroom. It was very hard and unsafe to use the bathtub. The toilet room is too small and also not convenient to use.

Amazing decor throughout. Our bedroom felt luxurious and we loved having a hand basin each. The dining room had a fantastic collection of tiered cake plates and other gorgeous china.The breads and sweets available were excellent. Reception staff were professional and attentive. The breakfast host was outstanding and made us so welcome, with coffees on demand. Great location, right on the square.
