Noon Lodge

The location is a short (20-25 min) walk from the main village with shops and restaurants, we loved our time at Big Bear Lake. The cabins are spread out across a lovely location on the edge of the Lake, and it is obvious the owners of Noon Lodge take pride in the grounds and keep it looking good and the gas fires are a great touch. If had it been a little warmer we would have probably sat outside at night time in front of a fire. The gas-fired heater inside the bedroom was fantastic, and really kept the rooms warm. The bed was really comfortable, and probably the best bed we stayed in during our two week trip in America.

We stayed in Cabin no.2, and the designated carparking spot for Cabins no.1 and no.2 are absymal compared to all the others. No hairdryer or steamer/iron provided in the rooms, although I appreciate that these cabins might be designed for families travelling from home and bringing all of their own supplies, we are from the UK and across the 22 different Hotels/B&Bs/Inns we have stayed in across the USA, we have never not at least had a hairdryer in the bathroom. Leaving 1no. coffee bag to use for two guests at a three night stay seemed a little tight on $$$ (considering it is not a budget motel), would have been nice to leave some additional tea/coffee in the Office area for guests to use. Seemed a little tight on $$$ for the towels. No issues with providing only 1 set per guest, but there are no laundry facilities or ways of replacing them during the stay and the largest "body towel" barely fit around my waist (and I am a average 6ft / 190 lb adult man!). There are no safes/security boxes in the cabins. Considering the door lock is rather basic, it would have been nice to provide a safe in each room. Maybe crime around Big Bear Lake is incredibly low, but for peace of mind with our passports we would have felt happier if there was somewhere safe to store them during out stay. Finally, considering all of the above... they then expect guests to empty their own trash (there is one bin in the bathroom), which is also a first for us. Would happily return to Big Bear Lake, but would probably not return to Noon Lodge.

Room was a little dated and as an older building tended to be a little noisy but nothing that affected our enjoyment. Breakfast was better than anticipated. Happy hour on Wednesday was a good idea

I didn’t like that the pool towels could not be taken to the room; my girls had to get out of the pool frozen because they took the towels off at the exit. I didn’t like the long wait to be able to leave. They took more than an hour and a half to bring our car, a total lack of respect.
