We had a wonderful time at Chez Sofia. Mounte and Mamadou were so warm and hospitable, and the place itself is a tranquil escape from the busy streets of central Saint Louis (which is still easily accessible by taxi or bus). The kitchen facilities are great and the rooms are clean. We will definitely be returning... we fell in love with the pace of Chez Sofia life!

Everything about this hotel was exceptional, from the staff to the rooms. Everyone was so kind and accommodating and despite some language barriers, I was very well taken care of. I am so pleased about my stay here and will keep it in my mind for my next trip!

My one concern is that it says there is a restaurant as part of the hotel, but this is no longer the case. They should probably update the website.

AS an avid hiker I enjoyed the 4,30am call for the call to prayer from a nearby mosque Normally, its difficult for me to get out of bed early but this was an enormous help..

Review by Tony Mangan, Travel writer. I was greeted with a fake welcome which soon disappeared when I asked for another bedsheets and a towel. Toilet paper was refused, so petty. Her attitude must surely cost her a lot of good ratings.I was also refused a receipt and the rest of my change from 20,000 as the owner demanded more money despite me showing her our contract. which I had already added city tax to. However, she said that I hadn't There are no rules posted on this listing or in the property, Yet, she consistently told me that I was breaking rules and our contract.This confused me as I am tidy and considerate. I am a quiet gentle person and even took away my rubbish as no rubbish bin was supplied and I left the room clean. She seems to suffer from severe mood swings as one moment I was told I could use the kitchen. When I came back from my walk I prepared a small salad snack only to be told I broke the "rules' by using the kitchen (which she had previously said I could use) and another rule by sitting on the wrong seat on the terrace and putting my bag on a seat outside my room. Her controlling nature came to the fore when I felt that it was best to spend my last afternoon in my room. She then changed the WiFi password (why do this?) and locked the kitchen door and when I left thr following morning I did not get my food Also a cold shower with weak water pressure, dirt was swept under the bed and an orange mat and and broken toilet seat. A difficult to open door. She is seemingly a moody, controlling bully and she totally destroyed my weekend as you can see from the reviews she has a history of this and talks to guests like they are children. Also a lot of construction noise in the area and loud music on the rooftop at ñight.

Cleaning was taking place in the lobby many times throughout the day. It made the place look busy to see cleaning equipment throughout the day. The security check entering the hotel was a bit excessive. Baggage had to be unloaded, passed through checks and then reloaded before going to the reception
