The location - we experienced a incredible sunrise from our room. View is second to none, Christ the Redeemer, sugar loaf and the planes landing in the bay was just amazing. The rooms and decor, hosts, the personal touches and easy going atmosphere, just made our stay perfect

It’s not so much about the property, but the location is a bit tricky - when ordering uber just choose Uber black right away (which is not expensive in Rio and more reliable when it comes to picking you up from Santa Teresa).

It’s extremely beautiful and you will feel like at home thanks to the owner and the staff. The breakfasts are huge and delicious, the swimming pool is amazing, but the real star is the sunrise which is worth waking up to!

We had a fantastic time at Rio144! From the owners to the staff, everyone was incredibly nice and accommodating. Jerome, in particular, stood out as a remarkably friendly and attentive host. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and every detail was thoughtfully attended to. Our stay was filled with comfort and hospitality, making it truly memorable. We loved the vibe and the atmosphere of this boutique hotel from the first second. We arrived early morning after an overnight flight and were greater by one of the owners personally. We received a breakfast on the beautiful terrace with iconic views of the sugarloaf mountain and the Christ of redemption. Simply you have to see the panoramic views, words are insufficient. We felt at home at the Rio 144. It was super easy to get everywhere in Rio with an Uber, cheap and reliable. The breakfast was as delicious as it was nutritious. The room as the hotel was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The nights were quiet and restful.

The photos were what made me book the property and the views were as spectacular as I hoped. Some of the best photos of our holiday were taken whilst eating breakfast by the pool. Our Rio stay was at the end of a longer South American holiday and Pousada 144 was the perfect place to relax, recharge and eat some really good food (Chez Claude in Leblon in particular). Jean and Stale (and Florian!) were great hosts and the hotel staff all helpful and very friendly.

It was difficult to call an Uber to the location (high up in Santa Teresa), but Fred was more than happy to call a cab for me (which was very reliable). There is not much walkable around (so grocery pick ups done on trips out).

Beautiful location, with picturesque views from room and tiers (the pictures on site are very accurate). Breakfast was delicious. Fred was incredibly kind and helpful - with check-in, getting around, and just chatting during the lulls. Room was clean and very nice.

It is a bit remote and finding the house was not so easy on the day of arrival. But it's worth it!

The views! The pool! Breakfast! Hosts! This was absolutely a fantastic start of our Latin America trip. Highly recommended for the lush surroundings, pool and views over Sugar Loaf and Christ. It is a bit far away from the rest of town but that’s okay.

Everything was just wonderful. It has to be noted that getting up there to the hotel is challenging (very, very steep) for the taxi drivers and not all of the are happy about it.

Beautiful, peaceful, intimate setting surrounded by trees. Amazing view. You only hear the sound of the birds. Lovely hosts. Fred took well care of us from cooking a delicious breakfast to helping with the internet connection. Clean room, spacious bathroom. Beautiful pool (instagram style).

This was really the gem of our journey to brazil. There are places on earth where you feel welcome from the first minute you walk in, thats what happened at Rio144. Also before we arrived we received Infos how to best get there and what to keep in mind. The view needs no explanation, just imagine waking up to the most beautiful sunrise with a view of the sugarloaf then sleeping a view more hours to get used to the new time zone. Breakfast is super delicious and served on the upper terrace sugarloaf and the pool in front and Cristo to your right. WhatsApp group was set up and was really helpful + we felt save when outside and somebody asked about us. I could go on and on with my text but will keep in short and list most of the amazing things: + Amazing architecture, Art, Pool and view,… + Feeling at home and so so welcome + Chats and communication where very easy going + Beautiful common area with games, books and art for a rainy day. + Cozy Bed and room with fullframe window overlooking Rio + Delicious and rich Breakfast + Easy Tab System + Shampoo and conditioner (unfortunately I forgot to get one for back home) + Uber worked quite good and was cheap. You need it to have a hotel with that view, its about 15min drive to Restaurants, Bars and City Airport and 25min drive to Ipanema or Copacapana. So in conclusion for us there is no better place and we know where to come back. Thanks again to all of you.

Beautiful location. Quiet and secluded with the most stunning views you could wish for. Room was comfortable and spacious with the same amazing view. Lots of personal touches and extras available in the room. Breakfast made for you each morning and served outside. Hosts were wonderful - thank you Jean and Fred.

The only little downside is the location, it is at first difficult to reach with taxis. Otherwise is a great place for people who want to explore Corcovado and Santa Teresa.

We had a pleasant and great stay at Pousada Rio144! Thanks to Jean, Fred and the rest of the staff were our needs and questions always met. Jackies backing skills are another highlight of our stay. :) The views are spectacular, the pool offers a relaxing, peace of mind as well as uncanny vibe and the furnishing of the place gives off an authentic, yet modern flare. Loved it!

Nothing we didn't like, the only recommendation we'd give travellers would be to consider having a few uber drivers' numbers as a pre-arranged agreement to go up Santa Teresa hill as a back up.

Everything about Jean's hotel is exceptional - every detail was thought through meticulously and Rio144 is by far one of the best, most comfortable and prettiest places we've ever stayed in. The bedroom view to Pão de Açúcar is spectacular and something out of a movie. Some people might be put off by the location, but we didn't feel unsafe at any point during our stay and the positives definitely outweigh the small inconvenience of a 15 minute uber ride and the steep hills that need to be taken to get to the hotel. The highlights are too much to be mentioned in detail, but we were welcomed by monkeys surrounding the hotel trees and Jaqui, the chef, cooks a genuine traditional breakfast to die for.
