Excellent staff. I had a burst tyre on my to the Lodge, and when I contacted them to explain my delay, the owner and her friends were so concerned about me being stuck in the dark on my own that they asked a friend to come and sit with me. They also set in place a tow truck if needed. When I eventually got to the Lodge, they sat down with me to eat and drink and check that I was OK. They continued to check I was OK for the next few days.
With regards to the Lodge, the room was big and clean, with greenery outside the rooms and lovely lawns throughout the property with impala wandering about. Lots of room outside to sit and ponder, as well as having a swimming pool and a great restaurant. Very easy to find and handy for getting to Pilanesburg NP and even Madikwe Reserve with a bit of research. Great place to stay to attend one of the African Wild Dog ecotrips that usually happen during July and August. These are run by the Waterberg Wild Dogs Initiative.
This is my 2nd stay at the Lodge, although I didn't meet owners last time. Convenient spot for if travelling north and has an Avis car hire branch in the town.

The stay was better than we have expected. The hotel is amazing so are the rooms. The team is awesome. Linda and Jennifer took really good care of us and Caitlynn, our guide was amazing. She listened to us and helped us find the animals we were hoping to see. Marataba made our honeymoon awesome. It's truly one of the best hotels we've ever been to. The little attentions and surprises made our stay unforgettable.

This was our second stay here. We brought my partner's mum and dad as we loved it so much. The staff were outstanding, the lodge is beautiful and we had an amazing time. The river cruise was the highlight. Special mention to Never and Noel who made sure we were cared for the whole stay. We will definitely be coming back.

I went to Bela Bela to continue my memory trip . I remembered Warmbaths 25 years ago, and was so disappointed. The streets were dirty, the pavements broken, the little town full of load music
I will definitely not go there again.

The owner should consider removing all those concrete bed base,they are so uncomfortable and if you lose concentration moving around those small rooms you can easily get injured.The shower and toilets are so small ,it is difficult to move around.
I was booked for two nights but slept for only night and had to find alternative accomodation.They also have an entertainment area so on sunday the 27th April 2025,they play loud music as early as 10h00.

The place is in urgent need of an upgrade. Almost all the kitchen items were dirty. The pots and pans were old and scratched. The knives were blunt. The dishwasher was broken. The bathroom mats looked like they belonged outside. The grill was rusty. The microwave is extremely old. The living room couches were terribly dirty, and the cushions were worn out and flat. The owner’s personal belongings, like cool boxes, were scattered around. The tap at the kitchen counter had no running water. The shower mats were mouldy.
The advertisement of the rooms on the website did not match what we got. The single beds were extremely hard, and the bedding was old.
The dishwasher was extremely dirty, mouldy, and broken.
The pool cues had no tips.

The mountain views are the best.
The mountain views are the best. We slept in one of the pods. You can also sleep with the blinds open at night, and that makes it feel like you are sleeping under the stars. Also, there were no mosquitos, something we found very interesting.

The reserve is very well managed. Because of very heavy rains in the area, some of the roads were not good. We had all our meals at our lodge, so did not try any of the other places to eat. Our two games drives were excellent and our ranger did her best to locate interesting game for us.

The place really needs maintenance everywhere and they can improve on cleanliness and quality.
