Our stay at Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites was wonderful. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable — perfect after a long day exploring Yosemite. The staff were welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, and the location is great — close to restaurants and just a short drive to the park entrance. We really appreciated the quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Yosemite!

We are travelling across US for some time already and we have been welcomed in many hotels so far, but the way we have been welcomed today in Mariposa was special. Ladies at the reception are so kind and helpful and thinking ahead How to make our stay better. Hotel itself is comfy and on the way to Yosemite NP.

The restaurants were good but we were there on Memorial Day and found out the first day we needed reservations. Our best meals were at 1850 (reservations) and the Pizza Factory (they don't take reservations). Castillo's Mexican was pretty bad. Would not recommend.

El Portal is a small town on the Merced river bank.

El Portal is a small town on the Merced river bank. It is very peaceful and quiet. I can imagine one can spend a lot of time exploring the Merced river here. I also found a lot of spots for having a picnic here.

Fish camp is pretty remote.

Fish camp is pretty remote. There's a general store nearby that has some essentials but be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you need anything. Recommended to get supplies on your way in from Oakhurst and drive in to Fish Camp. Overall its the perfect spot to be close to Yosemite. For me personally I'd rather be close to the park than close to town.

The staff were abusive, unprofessional and threatening. The guy checking us in ‘pulled the finger’ on us because we took to long finding our luggage tag. we weren’t expecting 5 star service but also didn’t expect to be abused on several occasions

The lovely family at the Berkshire Inn made our three days and nights there just perfect. The rooms are comfy, the breakfast is delicious, and the town has fun restaurants and a grocery store. With Yosemite in driving distance it was perfect for our three days exploring the park.

Would highly recommend to anybody who loves nature and hiking, and wants to avoid having to drive into Yosemite Valley + find parking everyday. There's a few nice restaurants within Curry Village, including a bar (get the smashed burger), a pizza stall, and a dining hall-style canteen. There's also a small grocery store and outdoor gear store where you can buy anything you forgot to bring on the trip. Overall, a wonderful location that I would definitely stay in again.

Small town about an hour out of Yosemite.

Small town about an hour out of Yosemite. We didn't leave our cabin except to drive up to Yosemite so we didn't really experience the town. Hadn't taken this route into Yosemite before so was delighted to find the drive from Midpines into the valley to be really beautiful.

I recommend at least 2 full days to explore the park!

I recommend at least 2 full days to explore the park! Vernal Fall/Nevada Fall hike was great. Fave food spots were at Curry Village: Pizza Deck & Jennie's Ice Cream. Didn't get a chance to swim but definitely won't miss out on that during the next visit. Getting around the park was easy, lots of signs so you don't make wrong turns when driving.

Great little town!

Great little town! We enjoyed eating at several local restaurants and enjoyed going through the local shops. Even the grocery store down the street from our hotel had friendly staff. We will be visiting again!
