I have stayed at other hotels and was not satisfied with the accommodations. However, I can honestly say that my stay at Ayres Hotel was the best. The room was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly. I travel to California for work and relaxation several times out of the year and I have been searching for a good hotel with excellent accommodations. Your hotel checks all the boxes, and I am so please to have found a hotel that I will look forward to staying at during my visits to California and I will be sure to recommend your hotel to my family and friends. I've spent alot of time in motels in california and this has been my most pleasant stay yet. I was that surprised after staying in so many grubby motels I actually went back down to reception to thank them for their efforts. The entire place was spotlessly clean. The room was very spacious and well equipped. Everything was easy and the manager was accommodating. This is the standard everyone else should follow.

Where do I start. Firstly I cannot write this review without giving a huge shout out to Sandra who is one of the lovely staff at Surf and Sand Resort - she made our trip extra special and sent some wine and cheese up to our room and also booked Nobu for us which was incredible as it was impossible to get a booking otherwise. As soon as we walked in I felt like a celebrity. We were greeted with amazing staff on the front desk, they upgraded our room with a small fee which was so worth it. Without even going into the Hotel itself the staff make it the most amazing experience. This Hotel is the only one on Laguna beach which is on the sea front, you can hear the waves crashing - our room was right on the water. The food in the Hotel was impeccable, you seriously need to try the breakfast burrito & French toast - OMG! On our first night we went for dinner and the food and cocktails were insane! I would seriously go back every year to this Hotel if I could. Excited to visit again! It is always fully booked so we were so lucky to have got a room! The best Hotel I have visited for sure! also the pool was incredible !

We booked Casa Lomas very last minute as the place we originally booked was not upto standard. What a gem. Lovely room, clean and comfortable, very well stocked fridge and goodie drawer. Nice tidy pool area and beautifully situated. Staff friendly and helpful.

Had a great time. Hotel was a bit dated. Parking is ridiculously expensive. The pool bar was closed for the season and I didn’t realize this until after we were already hanging out at the pool. The guests that were at the pool obviously didn’t like that we brought our 2 little boys with us and kept shaking their heads at us. The bed and pillows were very comfy! The Starbucks and little shop in the hotel that sold snacks were SO expensive. The tiny chocolate milk being sold at Starbucks was the same cost as a happy meal across the street at McDonald’s! We probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again, but it was comfortable and convenient to our plans in Costa Mesa. FYI: The pictures don’t show it, but there is an awkward building that sells cars or something on the same property. All of the pictures on the website angle the photos where the building isn’t there, but it is RIGHT there blocking a lot of the building.

Huntington Beach town has many bars and restaurants, and there are always lots of people walking around downtown and on the pier and on the beach. So it's a pretty lively scene. We tend to favor places with natural beauty - and we found it at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve, just up the road from HB. A beautiful bird refuge right by the ocean.

Newport is a lovely town that isn't talked about enough.

Newport is a lovely town that isn't talked about enough. I'm not a world traveler by any means but it's a wonderful escape from any busy life and although dinning and entertainment can be a bit pricey I'd say for a short visit to reset your mental and possibly even physical health it would be most worth it!

Laying in that bed was like floating on a puffy cloud! View from bed was absolutely breathtaking! The shower was Amazing… perfect water temp within seconds, water pressure was OUTSTANDING and the high shower head made it wonderful since I’m tall! The only thing that may have been not so great is the view from the balcony… ( paint store next door… but I think if the store was painted and given a beachy look it would of been better) But honestly the comfort of the bed which was absolutely INCREDIBLE, The Tropical view thru the French doors from the bed was STUNNING, and the AMAZING shower was worth every penny and then some!!! I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be back!!!

Terrific paths for walking along the harbor.

Terrific paths for walking along the harbor. Great restaurants and spots to enjoy the ocean. The Ohana Festival is lucky to be able to return each year to Doheny State Beach in Dana Point! I found the path along the beach and harbor very easy to access and a perfect way to enjoy the views. We didn't get into our car once, you can walk to fantastic restaurants and shopping - while getting your "steps in!"

The traffic noise was unbearable. the 405 was right outside.

The traffic noise was unbearable. the 405 was right outside. I had earplugs and 2 additional head wear pieces plus the pillow over my head and I could not sleep. Also the shower was so strong it was painful. The smoke alarm had been removed - a big safety issue! We tried to cancel for the next day and the front desk said yes but then the big boss said no. This is not a way to run a business.

Seal Beach is a small, suburban beach town.

Seal Beach is a small, suburban beach town. The downtown is charming, but not designed for high-traffic tourism. Very authentic local beach community--I grew up there and was visiting family. Long Beach is just north, and a much bigger, international city and Huntington (for surfing) and Laguna Beaches to the south are more touristy. Don't forget a sweatshirt for the marine-layer in the morning and the cool nights!

We were there for a wedding and did not spend time doing vacation things. We did go out for 2 breakfasts and both were excellent: Maison Cafe in Dana Point and Ramos House Cafe in the adorable Los Rios street in SJC

I DECIDED TO UPGRADE MY ROOM TO AN OCEAN VIEW AND I AM GLAD I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. SUNSET BEACH HAS A SEMI-BOHEMIAN PEDIGREE AND IS BEST IN THE SHOULDER SEASONS. THERE ARE AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MOST EVERY KIND OF FUN IN THAT NEIGBORHOOD AND ITS ENVIRONS.
