Located in a quiet area of Dongwe, perfect for peace and tranquility. It is a very modern hotel with individual detached bungalows constructed to a high standard of furnishing and comfort. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately maintained and afford privacy and shade for the bungalows. The cafe/restaurant is pleasant with good freshly prepared food at reasonable prices. The staff is warm and welcoming. The standout feature is the very large swimming pool which is very clean. We booked an extra day - it was so nice. You can walk to the beach but it is a little scruffy with plastic bottles strewn around, and some seaweed in the water but still possible to swim. There was no hassle from anyone.

The location is right on the beach, amazing views and in front of a Sand bank, with incredible rooms, comfortable and clean facilities, games, bar, books, pool and very cozy dining facilities. Few rooms and a very peaceful environment. Activities offered are for different tastes, time and price ranges and I thoroughly enjoyed the facilitation of the staff and the chosen guides for the activities. Staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, available and super responsive and very experienced. Dining was very nice and the menu for food and drinks variety allows for different choices for local and international cuisine at good value for money and generous portions. Overall I extremely recommend this facility as I had an amazing time and managed to rest and relax. Other restaurants and facilities and massages are available at very short beach walks from the hotel.

I stayed at few hotels in Zanzibar and here it is different - original bush has been saved , added flowers and endemic plants.African style architecture blended inside the garden , tastefully decorated rooms and some villas, each has different theme. I like the local arts around.Pool on the secluded beach , so wonderfully relaxing …Life slows down🌴☀️The cuisine is absolutely delicious. I enjoyed Zanzibar traditional music band

You need to be in a resort to enjoy the stay, in my opinion.

You need to be in a resort to enjoy the stay, in my opinion. The area outside is very dirty, busy, and not very pretty. The water is not pretty at all and the water is dirty. You need to go further North (like Nungwi) for the blue water.

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third...

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere.

The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing...

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying .

Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable. Greetings Paula& Johannes from The Netherlands . We are looking forward to come back again .

This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

It was amazing!!

It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️
