Polandgreat service very helpful maybe because we were there in the rainy season so there were fewer visitors but in fact there were probably more receptionists and cleaners than people in the hotel, this resulted in a very complex factory even royal treatment of hotel visitors, staff very helpful my wife had a stomach ache on the last day they advised and gave medicines from the pharmacy in the price we received a massage, highly recommended

RomaniaEverything was perfect! The location is very close to the beach- the nicest beach in Nungwi. Max and Elena are very nice, they helped us with tours organisation and anything we needed. The staff is very helpful and nice.
Breakfast is good and tasty, also the food here is very good and affordable.
We loved our stay here at Babalao Bungalows.
I highly recommend staying here.

We explored Paje, Mtende, Kizimkazi, Kendwa and even the famous Nakupenda sandbank, and while each had its charm, nothing compared to the beauty right outside our resort. Our stretch of beach felt like our own private paradise, complete with its own natural sandbank and not a single crowd in sight. It was perfect. The staff and Maasai security around the hotel make the difference in your stay. This is a place we want our family and friends to experience over and over again. Our hearts are so full from the amazing experience we got to have for the 8 nights we stayed here. We are just simply blown away. Having travelled all over the world, this place now sits at the top of our best holiday experiences. Asante sana! tuonane hivi karibuni!
We have managed to come away with some amazing moments and memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The place is stunning, with the sunrise in the morning making you think, “Why can’t I have this all the time?” That thought just carries on throughout the day whilst having your breakfast as you look across the sea, quietly smiling inside about the experience and feeling.
This continues in the afternoon when low tide arrives and the water recedes far from the shore, exposing the seabed and starfish. Our time here was not only enhanced by this experience, it was amplified by the quality of the people we met, and the joy they infused into our days. They were just wonderful.
So to: Alice, Canny, Antony, Sulemani, Mina, Godfrey, Sagida, Rahema, Chen, Bashari,Ikram, Fatma, Esther! Thank you.
Lastly, to Dheerendra, it was equally a joy to meet you. You have done an amazing job assembling a magnificent team of people, and we look forward to seeing you all again.

United Arab EmiratesEverything was excellent, as soon as I’ve crossed the gate to African Bungalow’s, I knew this bungalows have something special. Firstly I came across the owner and I’ve already felt extremely welcomed and well taken care of. All staff working there is super nice, helpful, kind and smiley. Rooms are spacious, very clean, all of them have terrace. Mine specially had pool view (if I’m not mistaken all of them are in front of the pool), so you can enter the pool straight from your terrace which is great. Fact that bungalows have pool is amazing as it gives you a chance to rest a bit from sometimes busy beach around. Walk to the beach is like 2 minutes which is huge advantage of that place also. In general location is perfect.
Breakfast is excellent. Amenities in the room are great, AC works perfectly! I’m really grateful to come across this bungalows as it gave me lovely memories! I can highly recommend this place and I promise, you don’t regret staying there. I’m sure I will come back here next time :)

We all loved TUI and had amazing holidays. We would definitely come back! The property is beautiful, has a lot of activities and a tropical scenery.
Now to the specifics:
The staff in general were super friendly and happy. A special thanks to Kelvin from the beach bar.
The food was absolutely amazing, from the breakfast buffet, to the lunch in green & grill (paid, as we had only half pension), to all the dinner options - except Andiamo, see below. We specially loved the buffets at the beach and around the pool.
We did 2 tours from the hotel which were great and the same price of outside companies. We strongly recommend the swimming with dolphins tour, that can be book at the hotel’s diving shop. Go in the afternoon when there’s less people. They take you on a boat and when you see dolphins you jump to the water! It’s a good workout as you do this multiple times to get a perfect shot :)
The swimming pool is great and always had chairs available - great due to the low tide at the beach. This side of the island has the low tide phenomenon which makes it impossible to go swim in the ocean for some hours. But that’s nature. If you do try, take aqua shoes because there’s a lot of sea urchins.
There’s free sandwiches, fruit and water at the reception 24h/day.

When I arrived received a good welcome.. Hotel Is very lovely and it's really big and clean.. The compound is well kept neat and its easy to get around.
My room was Fantastic. I loved it. My bed really Comfortable. I had tea in my room.My room was well equipped. The balcony very relaxing place. NICe breeze and view.
.The Food was very different . Alot to choose from.alot.of different types of food. Really tasty..Lekker..They were different types of salad. . Very good desserts and very many fruits.
The staff were always smiling and very friendly. The Hotel is very clean. Very nice clean big pool. The beach is also clean..
Oh it was all so Good. Everything was very Good . I enjoyed My Stay.. it was A ROYAL stay.

From the first moment we entered Zuri it was perfect. This hotel guarantees perfect relaxation and high quality service from A to Z. We were really charmed by the place. Whether it was the spacious and stylish rooms, the highly professional staff, the high class gastronomy to the point of I would say fine dining cuisine or the private beach right by the Indian Ocean or the swimming pool where one could perfectly relax at any time of the day.
There is really nothing in Zuri that is not an experience. If one has the opportunity to come to this hotel one should definitely do it because you will not find a better hotel in Zanzibar, and I dare say not even far and wide.

Essque is a lil paradise in Nungwi. The place looks amazing, staff is exceptional (special shout out to the general manager who went over and over to make our short stay an exceptional 1). We literally felt like we were the only guests at the resort by how the staff (Juma, Suleiman and Zulian) were always ready and willing to assist

The hotel was in a wonderful setting, and the staff were very kind, helpful, and friendly. The food was always delicious and fresh, and the oceanfront was perfect. I would like to especially mention Omar at the reception, and while all the waitstaff were kind, if I'm spelling the name correctly, Punda was our favorite. 🥰

The location of the hotel is great, directly on a wide sandy beach. The hotel is very spacious and it is at all time possible to find empty beds at the beach or at the pool. We had half-board and the food was amazing; very wide selection with local and international dishes. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage which had a separate living area and deck straight over the water when the tide was in. Amazing room.
There are 2 restaurants on site both with great food and a rooftop bar.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the location was great

we loved everything about the hotel , it looks tropical. there are 3 beautiful small pools. one of them infinity with a sea view. in the dining room they cut us fruits and vegetables because we eat kosher . walking dictance from chabad house. and there is a nice spa

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Riu Palace: breakfast, dinner were extraordinary, very wide choice. The best beach in Zanzibar, you can swim all day, only three hours of the day are uncomfortable. Special thanks to John, you are just amazing!

Beautiful beach with a decent selection of restaurants and bars.
I loved the Fish Market restaurant and kept going back.
Amazing blue sea, powder soft sand and great location for sunset.
As a female solo traveller I didn’t like constant hassle from men dressed as Masai.

Matemwe is a perfect destination for anyone who wants peace and quiet, but still has access to great activities. You can easily arrange dolphin watching and swimming tours – look for Captain Lucho, he helped us with everything and made the experience amazing. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

There are a lot of hidden costs when coming to Nungwi.
There are a lot of hidden costs when coming to Nungwi. If you book any excursions, be prepared to pay double what you book for as they add on conservancy and entry fees on top. The beaches are not the crystal clear blue that you think. The beaches are highly affected by the tides. When it is low tide the beach is covered with seaweed and the water is too far out for you to swim. You only get to swim for a few hours a day when it is in high tide. If I were booking to come back to Zanzibar, go to Paje!!

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.
Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it.
We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip.
Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough.
The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean...
If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

The nearby beaches are scenic, but there are some important things to consider. The ocean is full of sea urchins, making swimming risky without proper footwear. During the day, low tide pulls the water far from the shore, so swimming may not always be possible. If you walk toward the reef, expect to be approached frequently by local beach vendors, which can feel intrusive — especially when you're clearly not carrying money. Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

I loved everything about this place including night performances during supper. It is so easy to get to different places with taxis that are always waiting outside and the drivers are so friendly and always ready to drive you around any destination

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 .
We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe.
There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner.
Not too far from stone town.
