This property’s history is the cultural mosaic of Mardin. It absolutely makes you think about its previous life. We love the great hospitality of the owner and Mardin’s history by his words. Our room had a piece of ancient engineering in the ceilings.

We had a wonderful stay at Konak Asparte in Urfa. The place is exceptionally clean, and the family who runs it is incredibly warm and hospitable. The breakfast is served with love, and it truly feels like you're at home. If we ever visit Urfa again, we would definitely choose to stay here. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay in this beautifully restored house among the winding streets of Sanliurfa. The hostess was extremely welcoming and kind, and a mine of information She offered us a whole day tour of 4 main archaelogical sites around the town, including Gobekli Tepe, at a very reasonable price, which we were pleased to accept. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. There was no TV, which for us was no problem at all.

Ideally located for sightseeing in the centre of Gaziantep. The room was equipped with everything we needed and decorated with lots of vintage items. The staff were very friendly and helpful (they don't speak English, but using a mobile translation app solved the problem).

Modern city.

Modern city. A bit chaotic but nice energy and friendly people. The bazaar area is huge. The sad part is that there is not a lot of historic buildings or areas. There is some - but not really a lot, which makes it doubtful to stay more than just a couple of days. If you are not really interested in the cuisine of course. Do NOT miss the mosaic museum. That one is unique and you will never see this qualityand quantity of antique mosaics anywhere else.

The Archaeological Museum and Mosaic Museum, both available...

The Archaeological Museum and Mosaic Museum, both available on the same ticket, are exceptional. It is NOT TRUE that they are closed for repair at the moment (October 2025). There are other sights around the town, such as the Fish Ponds and some Roman graves, but these seem to appeal to domestic tourists most. The town is rapidly expanding and there are building sites around the outskirts, but the old town is charming, and there are guest houses and music venues held in the old buildings. The music event we went to consisted of Traditional live music from the region, a local banquet and the dancing was done by the audience. Most people were Turkish, very friendly and let their hair down, in spite of the 'no alcohol' rule! It isn't cheap though! The main reason we came was to see Gobeklitepi and other such sites scattered around Sanliurfa. They were more touristy than we'd realised, but still worth visiting .

Place with great history.

Place with great history. The Old City is like an open air museum. Impressive city walls, bastilles, Ulu Cami, nearby must see Hevsel Gardens etc. It is also a great spot to easily reach Kahta Adiyaman, Ergani, Mardin by dirt cheap and comfortable buses. Strongly recommend for history freaks ;)

I loved everything about Midyat! The buildings and the history are beautiful and the people could not have been nicer. The hospitality was amazing! Every single person we came across was super nice and friendly and would help out with anything we needed. We were offered free tea, coffee, and wine by many people. I am already thinking of going back soon!

Mount Nemrut is great.

Mount Nemrut is great. We took the advice of our hotel owner and went there for sunrise. The light is beautiful and soft. If you stay at Hotel Euphrat Nemrut you are very close to the best sites including Mount Nemrut. But also close to lots of other sites. And it has a gorgeous mountain feel and view. It felt a very Turkish experience and not over touristy.

Gaziantep is the gastronomic capital of Turkiye, and it totally deserves this title. All the places I visited were tasty, and all food was worth the try. The prices are affordable, the locals are helpful, the city is full of history and specific viber. Among the places, I liked Tahmis Kahvesi, which is the most ancient coffeeshop in the region, it has an authentic vibe.

If you love Mesopotamia, this is it!

If you love Mesopotamia, this is it! The place where Abraham, Rahela and others were walking around. Close to Harran, Gobeklitepe and Karahantepe, the oldest temples and cities in the world. In Sanliurfa is Archeological Museum which has the most ancient pieces of human history and is well worth to visit it. In Sanliurfa don't forget to visit Balikligol, the acient Abraham's pond and Kizlikoyun catacacombs/necropolis. The ancient castle on the hill is still closed (due to earthquake in 2023). You don't even need a taxi, everything is in proximity of 15- 20 minutes walk.
