I tend to avoid vacations in Slovakia due to bad past experiences, but this stay pleasantly surprised me. The receptionist was amazing, exceptionally professional, and helpful. If I were the owner of the hotel, I would reward her generously because such excellent staff in hospitality is rare. The breakfast was delicious, with a decent selection, and the dinners served at the Kamzík restaurant were absolutely great. I also have to praise the restaurant staff for being very kind and attentive.

Amazing place! A truly relaxing and peaceful stay. The hotel was quiet, comfortable, and perfect for unwinding. We really enjoyed the food — both the breakfast and dinner options were delicious and nicely presented. We also visited the wine bar and the English bar — both had a lovely atmosphere. One of the highlights was the wellness area. We were lucky to be there when it wasn’t crowded, so we could fully enjoy the swimming pool and all the saunas in peace. Would definitely recommend for a calm and rejuvenating getaway!

Fabulously located guest house, just next to the Popradské Pleso. It is a good starting point for hikes, although many hiking routes are closed at winter time. The hotel was not accessible by car (it is an hour long walk from the nearest parking place). Although, one can order a drive to the hotel, but we didn't try this service. Our room was spatious and comfortable, with a lake view. A good restaurant and bar belongs to the accomodation. One can use the sauna and jakuzzi, which is in a good state, but for a high price. The staff was always very helpful. We had a wonderful time here.

Great place. Location is perfect, stuff very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable rooms, nice and cozy. View from window is stunning. Breakfast and dinner was delicious and variable. I enjoyed my vacation there. And it was huge effort saving effect to climb on mountain from there, so I was able to make more than usual. Mostly everything. We knew this hotel from 40 years ago when my grandparents stayed there. It was a fancy hotel back then and although it aged, they managed to revamp it in a way that it is a very good value for money. The wellness section has so much variety we could spend the whole day there. Room is spacious and comfortable. Other facilities like kids club and bowling are great addition for families with kids. Location is fantastic, all the main hiking routes pass by the hotel, we didn't even take the car out most days.

The wellness is just marvelous, one of my fav ever. I like that they have a separate, quite resting room with beds & blankets & candle lights, so you can easily take a spiritual inside journey after sauna & cold plunge. The steam bath has a unique citric smell that gets you cleaned up from toe to the top. The sight from the outside jacuzzi pool is just jaw dropping. They serve free refreshing drinks, water and orange flavored water as well. Rooms are nice and clean, the restaurant & the salon looks like you'd have been in a beautifully designed castle in the 18th century. Liked to stay here very much, will definitely come back again.

Beautiful location, excellent starting points for breathtaking hikes. The wellness is just great after the all-day physical activity. Very good breakfast. We even got a surprise Gopass card with a free return cable car ride and free entrance to a waterpark. Also the history of the hotel added to the atmosphere :)

Quiet, quaint and relaxing, with decent bars and restaurants , the backdrop for the town are the Tatras mountains, which seem to change at different times of the day, with shadow and light , if nature and fresh air is your thing, then it’s perfect, probably one to avoid if late night parties and karaoke bars are what you are after

Presov has beatiful main square and main street with renaisance, impressive buildings, beautiful old town hall and an impressive Gothic con-cathedral which is by the way taller than St Michel-St Gudula gotic cathedral in Brussels and the city has played an important role in the 14th-17th century during the Habsburg vs Protestants periods. The city has had their own small army, richness from the trade that was a centre between Cracow and Buda with underground caves with Tokaj wine where Prešov /Eperjes/Fragopolis was the main owner of Tokaj wine fields and whereas the name for Tokaj hills is still named after Prešov - Eperjesi hegyek, the city of Prešov has an important Jewish museum and synagogue, where the museum was recently unfortunately temporary closed by the state, ministry. The city had famous Lutheran collegium a higher school in mediaval time and Greek catholic and Orthodox impressive churches. There is University which produce many valuable historical books in last decades:

Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains.

Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains. Very close to restaurants and attractions. Our top tips for attractions within half an hour drive from Smokovce: - Bachledova TreeTop walk - Walk around Strbske Lake - Strednica Parking Photo Point. FREE. A hidden gem. Best views of the Tatra Mountains. Walk down to the 2 lakes. - Hrebienok funicular and Ladovy Dom (this was closed for maintenance but we heard great things about it). Top tip for the most overrated and expensive attraction (i.e. not recommended): Mount Lomnicky Stit cable car by Tatranska Lomnica (we got a return ticket to Skalnate Pleso). Best restaurant in Smokovce: Manuel Caffe & Bistro Italian restaurant.

The region is full of lovely walks and activities. TL is just enough on the edge of all the main tourist activity to have a quiet charm yet proximity to the good stuff. The trains and cable cars were easy to negotiate and there is a good choice of restaurants. One tip: if you want to take the cable car to the highest point at TL, BOOK AHEAD!

I was up in the mountains so didn't see much of the towns.

I was up in the mountains so didn't see much of the towns. I got the little train up from Stary Smokoviec and went for shopping in Strbske Pleso. Neither town appeals to me but Popradske Pleso is gorgeous. One of my favourite places in the Tatras.

The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

A very historic and interesting town.

A very historic and interesting town. Beautifully restored after decades of neglect. IMMACULATE centre. UK could learn some lessons. For us, it was a base for visiting the UNESCO wooden churches and there is a superb English-speaking guide bookable at the TIC at the top of the square. She speaks Slovak so can get the key for these unique and glorious churches. Lists of names and numbers at each church. Be careful of parking on the square; not permitted in daytime. Check notices. SUPERB beyond words restaurant ASSISI with 5* cafe opposite. Easy to spend the day there. It is on a train route from Kosice to where we flew with Wizzair. Quiet little airport. Lovely small walkable town.

I liked the most hospitality and accomodation.

I liked the most hospitality and accomodation. I dislike that in this the time there were some Gorals days and it wasn’t possible go to the “cloud pavement” without buying an expensive ticket for this event. So my hiking up was useless.

Nova Lesna is The Perfect Place to stay when you want to...

Nova Lesna is The Perfect Place to stay when you want to visit the High Tatras. It is close, it has great value for money and has some really beautiful places to stay at with spectacular view. I have been here twice so far but definitely will come back every time we want to go hiking in these beautiful mountains. The train is close by and quick, there are shops here and so many options to choose where you want to stay.

The Poprad it just small town next to the Tatras High Taras.

The Poprad it just small town next to the Tatras High Taras. Views are spectacular. People are great. If you need active retreet in the beautiful mountains, that part of the Slovakia is for you. It is a place in the world that you feel regret while leaving.
