This hotel is an absolute dream. The location is perfect, and both the exterior and interior are stunning. The rooms are beautiful, the beds unbelievably comfortable, and every detail feels carefully thought out. The staff are warm, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. This was such an unexpectedly pleasant stay! Location is good, it's a walkable and convenient distance from Kalmar C station and Kalmar Castle. The common spaces feel cosy and the rooms are really decently-sized and comfortable. It is cool that they refurbished this hotel from an old warehouse. There were also free coffee and tea (of a good variety!) for guests. We had both breakfast and dinner included in our package, which is a bit unusual for a hotel, but the dinner served was delicious, and I don't think we would have a more enjoyable meal outside anyway. Staff were really friendly too. Fantastic accommodation, it's such a pity we only stayed one night!

Wonderful castle and walks around and through the city were...

Wonderful castle and walks around and through the city were most enjoyable. The area is flat so no problems with steep inclines. Interesting history with many photo opportunities. Even took advantage of a local folk singing concert. We came away most refreshed and look forward to visiting again.

A town with less population.

A town with less population. I recommend to stay near lake or within the forest, provided you have your own vehicle to commute. Most of the shops and restaurants are located in the center of the town.

The house is in Kristvallabrunn, near but not in Nybro.

The house is in Kristvallabrunn, near but not in Nybro. From Kristvallabrunn, it is a short drive to Kalmar. Nybro apparently has a James Bond museum but we didn't find that out until after our stay.

It was well worth the trip from Helsingborg.

It was well worth the trip from Helsingborg. We liked the old town. The castle & surrounding gardens were spectacular. We would have done the nature walk, but the weather was too cold & wet (23rd & 24th May, 2025.

Lonely Planet describes Oskarshamn as (paraphrasing) "...

Lonely Planet describes Oskarshamn as (paraphrasing) "pleasant enough, but not interesting". The main reason to come here us to take a ferry, after all. I got to spend more time here than planned thanks to a last-minute ferry cancellation; while Oskarshamn is not a bad place to be stuck in for a night, it's definitely not something to put on your bucket list. Notes: - Restaurant Cecil is decent - Adels Hotel is very close to the Gotland Ferry terminal and quite cheap; the fact there is very little personnel on-site makes for an odd experience, though. - Oskarshamn is pretty small and walkable, but somewhat hilly.

The castle was a great tour—even in the pouring rain.

The castle was a great tour—even in the pouring rain. We drove to Oland and swam in the Baltic Sea. It was a nice hike—easy 4-5 miles. Walking around the walled area of Kalmar was nice as well. We had dinner at Ernesto’s which was delicious.
