It was such a pleasant experience. The welcoming was very warm, the room was specious and so tastefully decorated with an amazing view. Meals at restaurant were quite unique, local and delicious, and desserts were such a delight to look at and enjoy. A very big thank for a lovely birthday surprise. Everything was exceptional - next to the beauty of the whole island it was that thing that makes everything dreamlike. The staff deserves a big praise!

For a wonderful time in Sao Miguel, this is the place to be. It's in a peaceful spot with stunning ocean views, perfect for starting your day right. The breakfast has lots of tasty options, including local favorites. The staff are really kind and helpful. They let us check in early at 10:00 am and check out late. The spa isn't huge, but it's a great way to unwind after exploring the island. Overall, it's one of the best hotels I've stayed at, fitting in perfectly with Sao Miguel's natural beauty.

Just excellent, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed. The room is amazing, all new, with a huge bed, super clean, with a very nice balcony with views to the pool and the palm trees. A little paradise. There are cookies, tea, coffee and a fridge in the room. The staff is very friendly and polite. Free parking and amazing breakfast in a relaxing atmosphere. Very good location just 15 min from Ponta Delgada and around 30 min to all the best places of the island. I couldn't have asked for more!

Overall the place is amazing. The spa is such a relaxing experience. You could spend multiple days just at the hotel and never be bored. There were a lot of extra amenities we received on arrival and during our stay which was a nice touch. We felt very spoiled staying here. All the staff was very nice including those who worked at the restaurant. Good selection of food including a good vegan menu.

The place is in an amazing location with a stunning view. Modern and very well kept. Nice surrounding. Hiking down to the village and beach gives a striking view. The natural pools at the coast are worth the visit. As the kitchen was being remodeled, we got excellent breakfast served in the room every morning, which we anyway would have preferred.

We visited at Xmas, so very much felt out of season, small...

We visited at Xmas, so very much felt out of season, small and friendly with good range of local cafes and restaurants. Christmas lights and nativity scene were a delight. Highlight for us was the Jose Do Canto botanic garden, which even in Late December was a welcome oasis of calm and greenery, and big trees, bamboos and chickens. Farmers Market was well worth a visit, we got everything we needed for Xmas dinner here, oh, and the bakery near the hotel, as likelihood of finding restaurant open in the rural area we were headed to was slim. Stall holders were all friendly and ready to help. We walked along the coast one day, probably a lot different in the summer. As a place to stop and get orientated and buy supplies after getting off the plane Ponta Delgada did what it needed to do for us, but if you enjoy walking in the countryside don’t linger here.

Spectacular park and hot springs. The foliage in the park is magnificent rivalling some of the most iconic parks in the world. Quiet, close to quiet seaside town with whale watching, fishing and good food.

I enjoyed Riberia Grande.

I enjoyed Riberia Grande. It is a great place to situate yourself if you are planning to visit different areas of the island. The public swimming pools and ocean access was fantastic. I enjoyed going to the courtyard area in my area nightly to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. Took a little getting used to the serving staff here as they did not seem interested in their customers. Upon searching Google, I found out this may be because they are paid a decent living wage and therefore not reliant on tips. This makes it even more confusing as to why they would not be receptive to their customers.

Casas do termo are about 2 km from Lagoa, and we didn't explore this small town well enough. The big Continente supermarket was easy to find (on the road from the motorway). The roads on São Miguel are on the whole very good and the traffic is light. There is a lot of agricultural traffic, however. Using this location as a base, we could easily explore the whole island by car and there are many things worth experiencing (views, villages, Ponta Delgada itself). It's an amazingly lush, green island. We would recommend it!

this hotel was far from the airport or anything else for that matter, if you had to walk so a car is a necessity, and although the hotel had amenities like restaurant (only open for breakfast with the same breakfast every day) and vending machines (which if you could find a working one was empty( best piece of advise is find a grocery store, the island living is the best but it does take some getting used to if your from North America.

There is not much going on here.

There is not much going on here. We stayed here as it's close to Pico Da Vara. We should have stayed at Furnas though as we ended up driving down there 3 times :-) That being said, the island is small and it's all doable.

It is a beautiful and historic building with so much character. It has calm and peaceful seating areas throughout where you can sit in comfort. They have the best breakfast and we relied on the banana for a snack as we were out and about during the day. This location is perfect for exploring the island as it is centrally located. We will definitely be back

Ginetes is a small town with limited resources for visitors,...

Ginetes is a small town with limited resources for visitors, other than a market maybe, and a church. It isn't particularly attractive and requires a car to get to from the hotel. This is a peaceful boutique hotel in a beautiful and remote setting. However, it is right off the main road traveling to the southwest of the island. It was a very easy drive, around 20-25 minutes, from the airport and with very little traffic, as it is going away from Punta Delgada. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the west coast and also Sete Cidades. There is no place to eat close to the hotel, but its dining room has exceptional food. Although the ocean is within view of the hotel, you can not walk to it. In fact, I did not find any good walking travels near the hotel.

Just to see Ponta Delgada, 2-3 days is enough. It is within an hour to most places on the island. Christmastime is a great time to be there. Not too hot, not too cold and less busy than in the high season.

The best place to stay on Sao Miguel.

The best place to stay on Sao Miguel. You can easily walk to Lake Furnas and Parque Grená which has lots of waterfalls. There are thermal springs you can visit at both Terra Nostra and Poça da Dona Beija (which was great at night time). Espinha cocktail bar was lovely as was Terra Nostra Restaurant. You could spend a whole day walking around the area where there are parks with geothermal activity and a beautiful church in the centre. We ate in a lot and there are lots of lovely bakeries in the town and supermarkets.
