Awesome views of the ocean and Pico, fruit trees, chickens, bees, goats & cows in your backyard,. Lucia & Tony could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Had an amazing stay. Not only are the rooms super comfortable and clean, the view of the ocean is amazing, the breakfast is lovely and the hosts are super nice! They have farmland, where they grow organic products and also a huuge and beautiful garden, which is just out of this world. Even a tunnel, which ends by the shore. The landing strip of the airport is very close by but it is not loud at all, since the airport is not very busy. It's rather entertaining watching the planes.
Would visit Faial again just to spend more time at this place.

Everything. Francisco and his wife are amazing. Unfortunately we only had 1 night there. Francisco met us, showed us around and had a very nice conversation with him. The space was super comfortable and one of the best beds ever in an accomodation. We had an early breakfast and found everything ready for us :)

We loved the location, right on the beach and within walking distance of Horta. We loved the apartment. It is a very natural space, composed of wood and glass, with lots of light. It was very clean with all mod cons. The showers were great and the beds were comfortable. We loved the vibe of Porta Pim Bay.

Our room was great and was cleaned well every day and the staff was super friendly. Also the breakfast (for us a freshly squeezed orange juice, a coffee, a sandwich and one of the cakes/sweets) was very good. We felt very comfortable!🙂

The boulevard along the harbour offers beautiful views...
The boulevard along the harbour offers beautiful views towards Pico island. The town is rather small but offers all the basics. The people are are friendly. It's not so suitable for shopping and to really appreciate it you should walk around a lot and also explore the nature around the town. Public transport is available though rather limited.

My stay there was great, I especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The place is perfect if you have to catch a morning flight since it is just opposite the airport, also bus station is just across the street. However, it is not very easily accessible from Horta if you don't have your car; the public transport by bus is limited on weekends, even during the week the bus rides only few times a day, Besides one restaurant 1km away, there are also no other places to eat nearby. But the nature around is amazing and place is very nice, the rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast is good.

Loved that the host provided some basic supplies - coffee, milk, fresh eggs, homemade jam, olive oil. The hot water was plentiful. It was great to have a washing machine. But the view is the best selling point!

Horta is a fabulous town, friendly people, nice restaurants and pedarias and shops in and around the Main Street
Our favorite place to eat was a fab resteraunt overlooking the ocean Praia do a Almoxarife. Lovely harbor with interesting paintings from passing sailors.
Porto Pim Beach close by.
Probably best to get a hire car to see all the lovely spots around the island (quite expensive) although the local buses are pretty good too. Plenty of walking/hiking trails especially the walk around the rim of Caldeira e Capelinhos. Lots of amazing view points and botanical gardens

We loved Varadouro.
We loved Varadouro. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer to relax by the pools and swimming inlet. These swimming areas are located amongst the volcanic rock and are just amazing.
The area is very relaxing, the sea could be heard from our accommodation. We had a hire car, which is needed as the area is remote.
There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby.

We went on a full day tour of Faial with Andre at Visitfaial. This let us see all the sites. Faial is a beautiful island and I wish we had more time there. Horta is more of a town than a city, size wise. It has a big marina and this was buzzing with lots to look at including some big yachts. There are some busy bars and restaurants which are fun to visit although we preferred the quieter ones in Porto Pim Bay Area. Genuino has lots of memorabilia from the owner’s sailing adventures. The tuna steaks were massive. We had a table upstairs at window with lovely views across the bay. Taberna de Pim was also good and we were able to eat outside on the bay.
