SpainWe booked Vaiata Lodge 5 months or more in advance and we had plenty of information of where to find it and all the equipment of the place.
We were received very kindly and we had parking and our own fridge and room with air conditioner and a massive TV with Netflix.
The bed was amazingly comfortable, my wife and I we slept like kings, couldn’t ask for more.
Every morning they made breakfast for us at 8.00 am and it was super helpful and also tasty. They made us organic fried eggs (from the host brother farm) and bacon with a good cold juice and milk. It gave us the energy we needed to start the day.
On the lodge we also had a list of places and restaurants to visit as per their recommendation. We thought that it was very thoughtful on their behalf. They kept giving us advice and resolving questions we had which was 5-stars. I literally felt at home.
Also for whoever needs it, they have car park (which we used) and also you can rent a motorbike if you like. They thought about everything, seriously, the best service no kidding.
They are very honest and kind people which make Tahiti even a better place and they were so kind to invite us for dinner with their friends on the last night of our stay on Vaiata Lodge. They were super friendly and we had a lot of fun.
We 100% recommend anyone to book their stay at this place, it will make your visit to Tahiti memorable, familiar and beautiful.

The view is really breathtaking, as you could expect by looking at the pictures on booking.com. The whole terrace/deck is fantastic. The breakfast was very good. You eat it on the terrace with the wonderful view. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. We got a reserved parking spot for our mini-bus. Two ladies from the staff went totally above and beyond of what could be expected, when they jump-started our rented mini-bus on the day of our departure, when the battery was dead. Thank you again!! The view from the Quadruple Room was super. The Junior Suite had a unique "shower with a view" and a unique private mini-pool, that was indoors and outdoors at the same time. Beautiful.

These guys went the extra mile. Had our room ready early. Looked after our luggage at the end of the stay. Food was great. Nice relaxing place after 30hrs traveling. Found some good easy snorkeling 5 minute walk away at Mahana Park. Recommend to everyone looking for a lovely short stay.

We couldnt find any tours to suit us, so walked around the town, markets, pearl museum, city sites & the fabulous park opposite the unit.
Lots of green parks around the city.

I made a late evening reservation due to a last minute change in my travel plans after arriving at the Tahiti airport. I needed an overnight stay and was lucky I found such a good accommodation for which the host Wilfred made even better as we discussed visiting nearby Moorea island and the two ferry options to get there (select the white boat 😊). He showed me around the outdoor lounge and kitchen area adjacent to the pool. The area has a great view of the sky and ocean since the LODGE sits atop hills. The personal touches are things one would not receive at a standard hotel. I’d definitely recommend the LODGE to others.

The room had a nice view & the tv had netflix but it was noisy with the bar playing music all night. If you have any food intolerances don't go here, they don't cater for it at all & aren't prepared to make anything that isn't on the menu. The jet ski's are constantly whizzing past just outside the lagoon so swimming in the sea is dangerous & they have resident Cockerell's in the property that call constantly from dawn to dusk. The nearest supermarket is 1.5 miles away & you have to walk at the side of a very busy duel carriageway & breathe in the fumes. The reception & bar staff are lovely but the catering staff are unhelpful & unpleasant apart from the chef.

Drivers are very courteous and that makes the traffic and tiny streets in Papeete much more manageable.
Papeete is bustling on most weekdays, especially when cruise ships are in port but it was almost deserted when we drove in for lunch on a Saturday and Sunday. Street parking is tight and I’m not sure tourists are meant to understand the rules. We had good luck parking in garages - easy to find on Google maps. Free to park on the weekendss
Consider taking the ferry to Moorea - only about 30 or 45 minutes, you can take your car if you rented one or just go over and there are plenty of taxis and minibuses to get you around.
We also booked a “swimming with humpback whales” expedition on Viator that was absolutely amazing. Being in the water with those creatures was so incredibly special - it might merit the term “once in a lifetime experience”

Amazing! We cooked our on food. The Villa was great my kids had their own room, blast music, no neighbors, walked the mountain. Thing I didn’t like not air on the mountain as far as breeze none even with the all the windows open we had to call the owner to get fans for air. They were accommodating to bring us fans. Other than that perfect! Will go back to stay at the same Villa hands down.

If you rent a car, there are lots of traffic circles and they drive fast! Ate at food trucks which were really good and good price. Walked to a little corner store which provided enough to get us through the first day. Careful of the dogs running wild in the streets. Seem friendly enough, but did hear of a person getting bitten by one. Would not want to walk in the dark in that area. Hotel seemed safe at night. Rented a vehicle and drove the entire island of Tahiti Anui and Tahiti Iti. High recommend driving the entire island. Lots to see and do!

I liked the area because it was away from the main city. The locals are very friendly. Just make sure you have transportation. I would recommend renting a car. Although we rented a car from the airport, there is a car rental place near the lodge. It may be cheaper, as airport rentals tend to be higher.

About 90% of excursions were water related activities and if that’s not your passion it’ll take a bit of effort to find nature, culture options. What I didn’t like as a solo traveler is that Viator tours were mainly required a couple/2 person minimim booking. Thankfully booking.com excursions was a life saver.
Most restaurants are closed between 2-5 pm so keep that in mind. I’m not a foodie so I didn’t explore the fine dining options.
Papeete lacks a robust night life, it’s more a “get away from real life” and relax that caters to water sports types. I realized I’m a “city girl” type so after 3 days of chilling I was restless.

A short taxi ride from downturns and the airport but our hosts made all our bookings and shops and a market were a 10 minute walk down the hill. It can be a little hot walking in Tahiti. Traffic chaotic if you come from a quiet location.

We couldn't sleep due to 95 degree temperature in unit. We were too exhausted to do anything. Not easy to get around as taxis are booked up in advance. Unit is in gated community so taxis can't get in.
