What can I say, this is a great place to stay.
All the stuff for very welcoming and very helpful. The facilities were really good and a very good standard of cleaning.
The shower blocks for men and women were very clean and could cater for a number of people.
There is a well-equipped kitchen with multiple cookers, sinks and worktops though you do need to provide your own cooking utensils. Also a nice selection of gas barbecues that you can use.
We had booked a cabin for two which had a nice veranda with seats outside overlooking the sea.
The beach itself was very nice with fine black sand and a people out surfing and kite surfing when we were there.
Lifeguards were present during the day with swimming recommended between the flags.
A nice location for exploring the local area or even just relaxing on the beach all day.

Very clean and the room came with everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were a good size with comfortable beds. Excellent place to stay especially when travelling with kids. Close proximity to the coast, food places and shops. Loved our stay and we will definitely stay at Dawsons when we go to New Plymouth again.

We had a great stay at the Metrotel. The apartment was very clean, equipped with everything we needed and is well situated in New Plymouth (close to the center). The staff is super friendly and will help wherever it is needed. Easy Check-In and Check-Out.

In between a house move, we needed a nights accommodation. This was the ultimate choice. It was peaceful and quiet, well decorated, comfortable with great beds and a good shower! The best choice we could make. We will be back!

The staff was very friedly at all time. All facilities and the cabin were very clean. The view was great, i hab a look directly on the sea. If you sit/eat in front of your cabin you can also see a part of the harbour.

Really enjoyed New Plymouth.
Really enjoyed New Plymouth. Especially enjoyed Back Beach and the cafe The Bach. We had great weather and enjoyed the views of Mt Taranaki. Can recommend driving north about an hour to see Elephant Rock and Rapanui Beach - just be sure to go an hour before low tide.

It is a natural beach loved by surfers!
It is a natural beach loved by surfers! Take the kickboard, go directly into the sea, and enjoy the fun of surfing. If you are tired, you can rest on the beach. The sunset is beautiful and not to be missed. But there is no lighting after sunset so be careful walking back to where you parked

Typical country town. There was a great coffee shop, vehicle srervicing and farm supply facilities.
We enjoyed our stay there as a staging post for WOMAD in New Plymouth.
The view from the Barbwire Bach across the lake is tranquil and very scenic.

Super Market and small businesses appreciated. Convenience of travelling North and South of Waitara to Taranaki historical sites suited our family. Close to the sea a bonus. Managed a little fishing. Play Park great for children.

This is a place for a get-away to refresh yourself.
This is a place for a get-away to refresh yourself. The boutique accomodation is comfortable and clean. The restaurant at the hotel is special with amazing food, and a great atmosphere. The wifi didnt reach our room but who cares?! we came for a break 💕 Sunshine and great walks nearby made it a great escape from life.
And bonus (although I didnt use it this time) this place is pet friendly so you can stay with your dog!

It was good to see the old facades of the shops.
It was good to see the old facades of the shops. Friendly city. Fabulous board walk, giving us time to enjoy the sea air.
Our airbnb (Cosy Unit Apartment on Longview),was lovely with extremely friendly hosts who made us very welcome.
Our Superhost also helped me to sort out an engine issue with my car.
The local supermarket was very handy and we enjoyed a pub dinner close by too.
We will go back to New Plymouth.

It was very poor accommodation. Not clean before we got there room was very smelly n musky dirty smell. Lots missing from room. Utensils, TV remote, pots, toaster, iron. We couldn’t book anywhere else all booked out a big festival was on in the area. Emergency housing was in the Lodge they were disgustingly dirty (bogens) Dogs inside their hotel room. Their rooms were disgustingly yuk. Not a good experience I would not recommend anyone to stay there. Very poor. Bad Experience.
