SingaporeProperty is in a very good location, around a nice 10 min walk into the town area/ the famous church. Lovely view from the room out on to the lake and if you’re lucky enough to be on the 2nd floor there is a skylight where you can view the stars. A nice touch.
Breakfast also good. You order what you want so little wastage, which is a good idea. The staff are also very friendly. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was very helpful with some tips on where to walk etc.

Conveniently located within 3mins drive to the town centre.
Staff were very helpful, who helped us find an ipad that we left behind so we could come back to get it the next day.

Comfortable bed and gorgeous bathrooms, beautiful views throughout with delightful patio access. Quite clever security door access, which we needed to ask for help with, but Nigel was on the phone and actually came out to help straight away. Thanks for your help! Great location for a holiday in Twizel or enroute south.

Great location at the bottom of Lake Pukaki with awesome view onto Mt. Cook. The property provides super service and is completely off-grid and self sustained. Food was awesome. We loved the star gazing - well educated, super comfy and we saw galaxies with our plain eye.

Value for money the High Country Lodge is a must. Brilliant staff, very clean and tidy, nice surroundings. I left a pair of Airpods at the lodge, rang four days later and we have been reunited, complete honesty by the crew and much appreciated.

We loved the awesome views of the lake.
We loved the awesome views of the lake. We enoyed our day at the Hot Springs. We were disappointed that our star gazing tours were cancelled due to poor weather.
Had a great meal at the Chinese restaurant, Jade Palace. Otherwise we mainly ate at our accommodation and cooked for ourselves.

Twizel was an area for farming & sheep grazing until the NZ...
Twizel was an area for farming & sheep grazing until the NZ Govt decided to connect all the Alpine Lochs via a series Canals & Power Plants to create a Massive Hydro Power Scheme in the late 60's.
It took nearly 20 years, but at the completion of the Power Project the Village of Twizel was established & the Power scheme workers & residents wanted the town to remain.
Luckily they won the day & Twizel became part of The MacKenzie County Council set up & is now a Tourist Mecca for Alpine Enthusiasts.
A great place to base yourself whilst visiting Mount Cook/Aoraki & the surrounding Ben Ohau Valley Region.
Twizel still has that quaintness of a small Alpine Village, a quality that seems to have been lost in other nearby Tourist Meccas.

Quiet town with all the amenities.
Quiet town with all the amenities. There is a nice cafe/restaurant called Eat which is worth a visit with very tasty and good value meals. Over the road, Mount Hutt takeaways offers tasty and good value fare as well. It serves Chinese takeaways and fish and chips. Of course there's also the Fairlie Bakehouse with its home made pies which are worth sampling.

The area is perfect for lake Tekapo and for viewing the night skies.
The accommodation was clean and well equipped. You can get food there but we decided to cook our own.
A great couple of nights stay in an ideal location.

There is the "House" and the "Cottage".
There is the "House" and the "Cottage". We stayed at the little cottage and it was perfect. Nice, quiet place next to the lake and the view was just unbelievable. We ate at the High Country Salmon at Twizel nearby. The salmon sashimi was really fresh.
Love meeting the very friendly dog "Hari". Hiking the Hooker Valley Trail at Mt Cook was the highlight, though the trail was close for repair after the first bridge on that day. The scenery was again simply breath taking.
A visit to The Hermitage Hotel next to Mt Cook was really nice for some snack and coffee.

As an outdoor painter, my favourite painting spots were the Church of the Good Sheppherd, along the lake and the lookouts at Lake Pukaki,.
Our grandson fished at both the Lake Tekapo and the Twizel canals, and was happy when he caught two salmon.
We ate at Ramen and that was excellent, and used the 4 Square a lot, it was well stocked and had good choices.

Didn’t do much in Twizel itself as it was for us just a stopover on a long roadie, and we had been in the area before. But there is heaps to do and see within a short drive. We had our own food with us so didn’t eat out. The camp kitchen was great.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features.
We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

My wife and I really cannot rave about this retreat enough. The villas are exceptionally appointed and spacious. The environment is picturesque, tranquil and peaceful. The food provided in the villas and the meals cooked by the chef are truly delicious and guests individual tastes are catered for. The staff are very welcoming and friendly whilst ensuring that privacy is a key component of the experience. The villas could not be cleaner or more tastefully presented. We doubt anyone could be disappointed in their stay at this retreat.
