Loved the aesthetic. The shower was lovely. Very impressed by the array of pillows to choose from. The bag of sweets and fresh milk in the fridge was a really nice touch. The contents such as a proper ironing board and the hob. The place just captured my attention instantly.

We loved Wellington as there was such a variety of things to do. We visited the Te Papa museum, Zealandia, the Botanic Gardens and the Bolton Cemetery. We did a 10.5 mile hike on Christmas Day from our hotel along the waterfront and up to the Mount Victoria lookout and along the southern walkway… The views were stunning. The architecture in Wellington is wonderful and the trees are magnificent. It was quiet in the run up to Christmas but we didn’t get bored.

Cute town, easy to park and move around. Architecture is novel and striking for NZ :0) Vincis pizza is the best!! A visit to havelock North is well worth it too with some lovely eateries and op shops as well as the more pricey ones!! A walk along the seafront in Napier is a pleasant way to while away some time..

We love the place, lots to do, close to the beach/river park for kids lots of food options our family decided to buy takeaways on one night and ate on the beach, we stayed at the Bay of islands Holiday park and didn’t really need to organise activities as our venue hit the spot with a swimming pool, great kids park, volley ball and cool BBQ and Pizza oven area

New Plymouth. What can i say about New Plymouth.

New Plymouth. What can i say about New Plymouth. Well, context first. We were there the week before Christmas (2025) and went there to see the Maori carvings. The carvings featured on an ABC podcast (Mark Fennell) and New Plymouth was on the drive back to Auckland from Wellington. The roads in and out are one lane in each direction, very New Zealand, and totally rural. Forget 100klm/hr speed limits, you'll be lucky to get to 80 on the clear stretches. We came in along the front road, on the other side of the mountain, and it was worth the drive. We saw the carvings which were interesting, badly displayed and underwhelming. But got a few tips to other attractions in the region . We were only there for the one night, but certainly have things planned for when we come back. But, the highlight of New Plymouth - Christmas at the Bowl. Yes, we managed to jag the annual Christmas Carols and it was great. Perhaps 10,000 people? Admittedly, about 2 hours walk (only a slight exaggeration) from the entrance of the Gardens to the Bowl, but the food trucks had a good variety of options and the gold coin donation was to a local charity. The show was well presented and professional and include hits like Golden (from KPop Demon Hunters) and Wicked (although I'm not entirely convinced about the Christmas relevance of either of these) but the best Christmas carol of all - Snoopy's Christmas (if you haven't ever heard it, head straight to spotify and download it now!! All the locals seemed to know it as well). There are art galleries, museums, and quirky places to eat. Probably not a weeks worth, but certainly a pretty satisfying few days worth.

Lots of new (and old) Bars and Restaurants, many positive changes in recent years. Plenty to choose from - all within walking distance. Prices reasonable. The majority are pet friendly who permit the use of the outside area at the front of their premises. We were with tourists from overseas who thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

I only the best was great bridge set up for bridge venues and the convention centres and the number of people were so big that the convention centre couldn't hold so they opened the bridge club as well so both venues were so full and that's where I went to play cards and both places they were great had no time to go other places as we walk to our venues and had great restaurants to have dinner
