I enjoyed my stay a lot. The studio was comfortable and clean. There was a fridge and even a Nespresso coffee machine. The veranda is comfy and you can even see the dune/ocean from there. The hosts Lorna and Ron (who live upstairs) are extremely attentive and will you make feel at home immediately. I was even offered avocado from their own garden for breakfast and milk for the coffee. They gave me very helpful tips for my further trip in Northland. There are some restaurants in walking distance (about 500 m away). The surf beach is a 5min drive. The cliff track is stunning and is a must (do it during low tide so that you can walk on the beach and hop on the rocks)!

We had a lovely stay at Mangawhai Lodge. It's located at the top of a hill and has outstanding views. Jeanette our host was absolutely lovely and made it feel like we were staying with family. Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked each day with the choice of continental with yummy fresh fruit salad as an added bonus or a eggs, bacon and such. The lodge is not right in town center, but it's a short 15 walk to get to the cafes and restaurants. It's also within 10 to 1 hour drive to many awesome experiences and places. So you can see beautiful beaches and go surfing near by, do walking routes and explore cliffs, forrest and waterfalls or even a little city life in Whangarei.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay. Thanks to our great hosts Fiona and Ann, we learned a lot about live in that area, had a guided tour to meet Tana Mahuta and his siblings and also found the way to Aranga beach, not to forget wonderful breakfasts and excellent dinner. Thank you again!

Autumn holidays, quiet and relaxing, only negative experience ( NOT CONNECTED TO THE BACH !!), fish and chips take away from local Sharkies-fish & chips, extremly unhappy about timeframe ( almost 1 for 4 bits of fish and 2 tiny hands of chips), quantity and quality of product-- can't recommend

Definitely a rural community. Activities available and the host offered to escort us up the nearby Toka Toka peak. The region offers a sample of New Zealand farm land. It can be as laid back or active as desired

Dargaville is a great town.

Dargaville is a great town. Shopping centre is reasonably comprehensive. You need to research things to do. In summer Kai Iwi lakes is a great place to visit, swim, launch your boat ( if you have one) stay in the camping ground or just pitch your own tent. There are plenty of cafes and eating establishments. Research the area and things to do in the area before you go.

I have been through Ruawai many times.

I have been through Ruawai many times. This time I needed to meet someone there the next morning. It just made sense to find some local accomodation. I searched on my phone and immediately found Pete and Sara. Everything just made sense. I booked in and arrived around 6:30pm We all had a pleasant evening with a board game at the table.
