Refurbished rooms and areas with a nod to the hotel's history. Dining room had its original ceiling murals and wallpaper and adjacent rooms had historic furniture. The three course dinner was fabulous. We have stayed at several of the Norwegian historic hotels (De Historiske) the last couple of years, and the dinner we were served was the best so far.

Highlight of the hotel is clearly the breathtaking view from the restaurant/bar. The food is also very good and can only be recommended (both breakfast and dinner). On our tour through the wider area we did not always meet great restaurants (often only cheapish pizza, beer etc.), so we were really happy to get such a good service in Lavik. The owners are very nice and are certainly a big part of this positive experience! Having seen the nice location, having experienced the service and having seen the rooms, we should have stayed longer at this hotel and enjoyed the moment. We will come back ...

The hotel is situated in a tiny picturesque village from the late 19th century by the Luster fjord, overlooking a fantastic view. It has Norway’s best breakfast with everything you may wish, and fantastic service. For extra luxury, enjoy a wonderful 4-course dinner prepared by some of our best chefs, followed by a drink and coffee in the garden. We stayed in one of the modern rooms, which has plenty of space and a nice porch on the lawn to enjoy the morning sun. A great choice especially if you are travelling with elderly people, without a car and for a few nights. It's right in the center and with great views. The staff were very helpfull, friendly and professional. The breakfast was one of the most rich breakfasts i have seen in a hotel, with lots of local food and varieties. The room and bathroom were spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. Even the halls were beautifully decorated. Cosy and elegant. And the main area where you could sit for a cup of coffee or a drink in the lobby was the best i have seen in a hotel... All and all a great stay! Disliked · Nothing

The location was ideal as I could walk to the hospital where spouse was for emergency surgery, and felt my teens were safe in the cabin. Was able to book on extremely short notice and the lady at front desk was very kind and supplied quality linen for the well outfitted unit. Kitchen had everything we needed, including a very large fridge. The price was value for money and the Extra store was a very short walk. So glad we could stay here, it really saved our bacon when we found ourselves in a somewhat nebulous situation. Shout out for the hospital which provided great care and ...hospitality!

This is a fantastic location with some of the more interesting hiking and climbing routes in Norway, near the Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark. We choose the accomodation in the "Swiss chalet" and this allow us to save a lot of money :-) without losing the magnificence of the place and additional services provided by the hotel like for example the very good dinner (one of the best we have in Norway). The Chalet is really beautiful and extremely functional. Clean and full of services, like the shower and the drying room.

Camping area, bungalow and the view were so beautiful that it almost took our breath away. In addition to everything wonderful our daughter's fiance fished a mackerel. We hiked to the Brandsöyåsen and truly enjoyed the panoramic views of the fjords. Krokane camping and Florö exceeded all our expectations.

Aurland is a quiet town with a well-stocked grocery and an excellent bakery. It is not a port of call for the huge Sognefjord cruise ships, so it is not overrun by tourists multiple times a day. By car, the town is 20 minutes from Flåm, 35 minutes from Lærdal via the Lærdalstunnelen (the world's longest road tunnel, at almost 25km), and 2.5 hours from Bergen. A refueling station is located just south of town, off the E-16 roundabout. It offers reasonable prices for electric vehicle charging and petrol/diesel fuel. And, it serves the best homemade soup in the area!

We had booked the Norway in a Nutshell route from Oslo to Bergen and our friends had recommended we break up the journey and stay the night in Gudvangen and I am so glad we did! It was the most beautiful town right in the heart of a fjord - the views were breathtaking and as not many people stayed the night like we did, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We didn't stay long enough to participate in any of the activities offered the next morning (kayaking, hiking or a visit to the viking museum) but I don't think you need to stay any longer than two nights. I highly recommend that you stay at least one night in Gudvangen if you are travelling through it

A quiet village nestled at the head of a beautiful fiord with towering mountains all around. Excellent facilities including a bakery, grocery store, Mall of Norway and several restaurants, plus fast food outlets. Mini cruises available to nearby attractions, kayaks for hire and lakeside saunas. The most notable attraction is the world famous Flam Railway which climbs to almost 3000 feet a.s.l. up to Myrdal, where it connects to the Oslo to Bergen line.

Its a place which has lots of amazing things to do, every corner has a picture perfect view. In the beginning you might feel that 2-3 days are enough but I think you at least need 5 days. Good place to stay, we went to flam and Odda. Going and coming back from Odda was little bit hectic because it was raining heavily, the roads are very small, there are some places where there is only one lane, no two vehicles will fit. so be careful at such road. The nature is amazing, flam station has good food stall, I guess all major street foods.

Sogndal is a perfect home base if you want to spend a couple of days exploring the Sognefjord. It is the right size for walking around either day or night. People are very friendly and helpful. I don't think there was a launderette in town, that I remember, and that would have been helpful.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Geiranger. We booked a room with two queen beds for three people, but it was nothing like the pictures shown on the website. The room was dark, outdated, and extremely small. There wasn’t even enough space to open the luggage for three people. We paid almost $350 for one night, but it wasn’t even up to the standard of a one-star hotel. On the day of arrival, we received an email instructing us to pick up the key from a pizza shop next to the hotel instead of the reception, and we never saw anyone at the reception during our stay. The next day, we called the hotel several times to check out, but no one answered, and we never received a call back. I would absolutely not recommend this place.
