Het Weeshuis is located in the city centre of 'Hanzestad' Bolsward and offers accommodation set in a monumental building and former orphanage. Every day we had a beautiful breakfast set up for us in the main gathering room - delicious cheese, breads, pastries, soft boiled egg, fresh juices and coffee/tea. The room was large and the bed was without question like sleeping on a cloud. The bathroom had a very nice shower - large towels. The history and architecture add to it's charm. The staff and owner were very friendly and accommodating. We will stay here every time we visit.

Lovely to walk round the town.
Lovely to walk round the town. Easy to get to by train. We were lucky as there happened to be a street festival on while we were there and we also had great weather (beginning of June). We went to see other places around the area (Friesland) by car, which was very interesting. The boats in Harlingen are amazing and I'd love to go back and take ferry to the islands. The staff in tourist info were super friendly & helpful too ;-)

A beautiful little village in Friesland for those who want some peace and quiet -- and want to see that The Netherlands isn't only Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hague. Cycle along the lakes in Friesland and take the little bike ferries. We had a beautiful couple of days.

Staying at Vakantiehuis Sneekermeer in Oppenhuizen (Frl.), The Netherlands, with my family during the 2016 Christmas holiday season was Fantastic! The vacation house is situated in a beautiful location on a stunning property two miles outside Sneek, the main, vibrant little city in the South West of the province of Friesland. The owners are genuinely hospitable people, extremely thoughtful, and utterly correct. There is absolutely nothing about our four-day & night experience that leaves me with a less than positive feeling.

It is so good, I am planning to go back in September, this time with my husband, and to the Post Plaza hotel too which was terrific. The whole place is full of light and optimism. Super Friesland museum, very modern. Take a trip on the canal, well worth the 5 euros. Wander for hours in the lovely street, enjoying interesting shops craft and art galleries, and make a choice from a huge range of cafes and restaurants. The town buzzes with life!

This is a lovely town in the centre of Friesland. The town centre has some interesting buildings and the restaurants are good. There are good public transport links to the rest of Friesland, so Leeuwarden makes a good base for exploring the area, and the university city of Groningen is a short train ride away as well. This would make a good base for one or two weeks. There is a direct train service linking Leeuwarden to Rotterdam, so getting there was easy too. I took the Eurostar to Brussels, and my ticket covered reaching Leeuwarden at no extra cost.

The thing that made our stay very special was a brilliant member of the team who was on night duty on our first night. He took the time to speak to us in detail about the history of the hotel and about Leeuwarden and Friesland, which was so interesting, and he really made our trip to Leeuwarden. A credit to the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay in wintery Friesland. Cute and cozy little hotel with great breakfast every morning. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Extra long beds are a plus. Burdaard is a quiet little place from where you can start your explorations in no time. Would definitely recommend it posthus and hopefully come back some time. Thank you for the great time, we will happily think back to it :)

The prison is an unusual location for a hostel, which is what intrigued us in the first place and the whole experience was very enjoyable.. If you are travelling in Friesland, this accommodation is a must. I would make a detour just to stay there.

The hotel is located right on the sand dunes facing both the beach and the forest behind. Facilities including the rooms are recently updated. There are still some indications that this hotel has been here for a long time entertaining beachside holiday makers, but that in my opinion adds to its charm. Staff were very friendly. Pool and wellness areas were very nice additions especially on a rainy winters day. The sauna's were really large, with plenty of room to soak up the heat.

This place is a Gem. Not really in the city center and behind outdoor activity places so you didn't expect much but the hotel was great. New and relatively modern and right on the beach. The room was fine, the breakfast had a super selection. And I I felt for the first time on our trip that the price was right. - I can also recommend the restaurant right across the way. - The food was really tasty.
