Among the hotels near Oaxaca International Airport in Oaxaca, Hotel Hacienda, Hospedaje Donaji and HOTEL NIUT-JA have also been highly rated.
Our time in Oaxaca was terrific. Zocala Square had an orchestra playing on Sunday afternoon that was wonderful. We enjoyed people watching from the cafes arou d the square and had a meal upstairs in one of the restaurants to get a bird's eye view and have a short reprieve from street vendors. I also enjoyed taking photos in the amazing market. We went to the museum next to the large cathedral on the hill and it was very worthwhile. Bring a jacket or sweater for the evening.
Santa Cruz Huatulco seemed like the perfect sized town. An easy walk everywhere or taxis and buses if you prefer. Cared for beaches and public areas, beautiful ocean and vistas. Try some fish or shrimp tacos! The seafood and pastas at Mare downtown Calle Gardenia are great. Nice breakfasts at Cafe Juanita Chahue marina. The traditional Oaxaca state foods should not be missed. Every state in Mexico has their own secrets. The long distance Central de Autobuses is on the north side of town and the int'l airport is 13 kms away.
Such an amazing cultural experience. The city is so colorful and beautiful. The food is out of this world....true culinary experience! I would highly recommend Oaxaca to any couple but I do not think it would recommend it to a family with smaller children.
Oaxaca City exceeded all expectations. We spent 2 weeks just walking around exploring this lovely city eating mostly street and market food (so clean) and meeting and befriending some of the most warm and delightful people we've encountered anywhere.
Oaxaca is the BEST city to visit in Mexico, with the best cheap street food!! If you love food, this is the cit, you can try so many different things, tlayudas, quesillo, chapulines, tamales, mole, etc. Also desserts like ice cream (try leche quemada with tina icream). Also there are incredible buildings like Santo Domingo. Also visit places around Oaxaca like Hierve El Agua, El Tule, Zaachila. If you like SURFING, Puerto Escondido, one of the top beaches in the WORLD for surf is in Oaxaca! Please, go to Oaxaca at least 5-7 days to really enjoy everything!!!
The town has beautiful buildings and architecture and some interesting markets to visit and look around. Templo de Santo Domingo was something else and the museum next door is worth looking at, all of the information is in Spanish however the building itself is worth looking at as it is huge. The town is fairly small and easy to walk around. The tourist areas have a lot of beggars and people trying to sell you things, we were advised that there is a lot of poverty in Oaxaca and some of the beggars were quite aggressive however no real issues. Monte Alban is definitely worth a visit while in Oaxaca, we did also visit Hieve de Agua (petrified falls) however it was dry season and there was no water running at all.
Oaxaca is amazing! So many lovely roof top cafes and bars, nice museums, beautiful cathedral - and just outside oaxaca there is Monte Albán and Hierve el Agua which are both worth the visit!!
A wonderful, beautiful city. Great place to walk around and very good food and interesting museums and beautiful architecture. People are friendly. There is little not to like in the central area of Oaxaca. Afternoons are hot in the sun (but dry). First time I was there in late February when it doesn't rain and second time in July when it does. I enjoyed weather both times. The storms are refreshing and they usually come and go pretty quickly. Mornings and evenings are great. I stayed for a month on my second visit and rented an apartment. I was surprised I could afford a decent apartment right in the center of town. I took a Spanish course and volunteered. Whether you do those things or just come as a tourist on vacation, Oaxaca is very easy to enjoy. Nice day trips to archaeological sites and villages too.
All the art is great in Oaxaca. I took a woodcut workshop in Zaachila, which was great! As a tourist I felt safe, but I didn't stray far from the busy streets. However, the huge Oaxaca logo in front of Santo Domingo is horrible! It ruins the experience of that area.
This is a hidden gem in corner of Oaxaca in Mexico. Really beautiful and authentic place with great beaches with amazing food, still unspoiled by tourism. It’s a small place but has everything you need for a relaxing, interesting and unique break and taste of ‘real’ Mexico beside the sea!
Oaxaca City
The location is absolutely perfect! You're right in the centre of town, and can easily walk to markets, museums, and wonderful restaurants and cafes. The room was equipped with thoughtful amenities, such as a water dispenser (you definitely want to stay hydrated in Oaxaca!), an umbrella, and a fridge. The AC worked well and was definitely appreciated in the heat. Hugo was very friendly and helpful, and was available to answer questions as needed. As a woman traveling alone, I also felt very safe at this hotel.
Oaxaca City
The apartment had no running water when we arrived. The owner had left a 1 litre water bottle and a bucket to cover our 3 night stay as he saud he was unable to get water delivered to the apartment. As there was no water the cleaner hadn't been able to clean it either. The owner refused to refund us. We moved to another apartment next door which did have water. It is possible to get water in Oaxaca City but you have to pay 500 pesos for a private company to deliver it. Stay away
Oaxaca was one of the highlights of our trip, one of the reasons being the Hotel con Corozon. Lovely, helpful staff, fantastic breakfasts (different cooked dish every day) and a good location. We loved the modern design, rooftop terrace views and the hammock! Rooms are small, but perfectly formed and thought out, with air con if needed. The fact that the proceeds from the hotel support local indigenous children in their education is another benefit.
Boulenc has a beautiful and relaxing aesthetic, delicious breakfast and snacks, and a wonderful rooftop terrace but it’s their staff who really made our stay exceptional. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable at the hotel and to help us navigate the city. The hotel also has a bakery/restaurant and a market right next door, which we loved. Highly recommend Boulenc for your stay in Oaxaca City!
The pool was a welcome place to cool off and relax in the heat of the day. Breakfast was adequate. The bungalow room was quiet, private and well appointed. We appreciated how respectful and quiet the scene is there. This is not a party hotel. The locations was perfect for us, not too far from the center of things but just a 10-20 min walk to many of the sites we wanted to see. Would stay again as we visit Oaxaca
The breakfast was lovely. The room overlooking the street and all the action, yet very quiet. Comfortable bed. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Hotel Casona Oaxaca is just 2 minutes or 1 block from the main square with so many Christmas activities eg Christmas Tree lighting, free Concerts and so many great restaurants. I suggest to take at least one of the day tours they offer - just fabulous! 👏
Very nice internal courtyard and spacious rooms. We appreciated the bathroom set up, with the sink separated from the wc/shower area! Also has good size wardrobe and space to store your belongings. Have water dispenser around the hotel with both cold and hot water. The hotel is also super well insulated, Oaxaca gets pretty warm during the day but the internal courtyard was always very cool!
The location of La Catrina de Alcala is perfect as you walk out of the hotel straight onto a lively pedestrianised street in the heart of Oaxaca. The central square and cathedral are 2 minutes walk away. Yet the elegant interior is quiet but full of light with quirky historical touches. Our room was comfortable and a reasonable size. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Oaxaca City
Traditional property with old world charm. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The manager, Jorge, was such a gentleman it was a pleasure to stay there. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a lovely terrace on the roof with kitchen facilities. The location was central and within walking distance of many of the landmarks of Oaxaca.
Oaxaca City
I felt very welcome - greeted in person by Gladis, who checked if I needed anything. It was a pleasure meeting her and staying at Casa Alicia. She provided a hair dryer - I really had bad hair in Mexico :) Also Gladis helped me with taxi recommendations and stayed in touch with me as a single female traveler to make sure I was ok. Thank you so much and viva Oaxaca! :)
Everything about our stay was perfect! From the communication prior to arrival to the cleanliness of the facilities to the friendliness of the staff… I just can’t say enough positive things about our time at Hotel Siglo XVII. The hotel itself is unique and beautiful and the location is ideal for anything you might want to do in Oaxaca City. Hotel Siglo is top notch!
Oaxaca is a magical place and Hotel Casa Pereyra is the perfect hotel to experience it. The owners and staff are some of the kindest and warmest hosts we've ever met. They genuinely want to help you experience the best of Oaxaca. The breakfast is outstanding. Homemade food cooked with care. We loved staying at Casa Pereyra and were sad to leave.
Ricardo and his staff went above and beyond to make our stay in Oaxaca a highlight of our trip around Mexico. The hotel is in a central location. It is most attractive throughout and has a wonderful rooftop terrace. The breakfasts were delicious and excellent value. Overall, our experience was excellent and we look forward to returning.
Oaxaca City
I had a great stay at Yabanhi Hostel. Victor was especially helpful, the information about Oaxaca that I got from him was valuable, I used his recommendations to plan many of my days. The room was comfortable, clean and centrally located, and the rooftop patio is perfect for viewing the city, sunrises and sunsets.
What a beautiful spot in the heart of Oaxaca. The rooms are all themed according to regions of Mexico, and our room was full of decoration made of musical instruments. The rooftop was perfect, especially to watch the moon. It's an eco-friendly, conscious place to stay in a very clean, artistic city.
We loved everything about this hotel, the super friendly staff, the nice courtyard, the beautiful rooms and modern bathroom, the great location. You can walk everywhere, we always felt safe and cared for. We really recommend this place and if we come back to Oaxaca we will definitely stay here again!
Oaxaca City
10 minute walk from Oaxaca's Historic Center. Private parking has enough room for 4 vehicles. Apartment has cozy living room area, large dining table, kitchen with fridge and kitchen appliances. Big bedroom, closet, bathroom with hot water. Shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Staffs are really kind and helpful to us. Last day they gave us free late check-out so we enjoyed full-day trip, which was very convenient for us. This is the first time I received free late check-out in Mexico. I will visit this hotel again if there is another opportunity to go to Oaxaca.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel 40 years ago when we were dating. When we asked for a room wit a balcony they did not hesitate. Great experience revisiting our youth. This is the nicest place we stayed at in our 2.5 week Oaxaca visit. Location was excellent overlooking the Zocalo.
Oaxaca City
Such a bad experience. My first time in Oaxaca. I travel around Mexico for years and never experience such a terrible place to stay in this beautiful place. I normally have the best experiences and great things to say mostly in the beautiful Mexico. But not in this B&B.
