Absolutely everything was amazing and above and beyond. The staff were super friendly and helpful. My room was spacious and clean. The restaurant downstairs does great food and I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. The location was great for both the pick ups to the day trips to nearby islands and also for a walk along the Main Street in the evening. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Probably the best place we stayed during our 3 weeks in Madagascar. Great room on 1. floor with aircon, fan, safe, beautiful view of the sea, perfect balcony. Nice pool. The restaurant has good food, but there are also a few other options along the beach. Wifi comes and goes. Like in most (all?) hotels on Nosy Be, the aircon is run on the island's el supply, not the generator, so it doesn't work all the time.

Before arrival Valerie the owner assisted us with all our transfers ensuring everything ran smoothly. Upon arrival our bags were carried up for us and we were greeted with warm smiles and deliciously cold welcome drinks. Treated like rock stars. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our bed was beautifully decorated with flowers and a heart shaped towel for our honeymoon. There were even hot showers (not that you need them) but after a week of cold showers it was very pleasant. The food was amazing and overall very good value for money. The Happy Komba team went above and beyond for us. I see why Valerie named it Happy Komba lodge as the staff are all very happy with big smiles always. We will definitely be back.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at in terms of value for money. The quality of the food and drink is excellent and the rooms are spacious and right on a beautiful stretch of beach. Incredible boutique hotel. Welcoming drinks, big and clean rooms, good wifi, friendly staff and amazing views. Aircon, swimming pool, good breakfast and ocean views, everything in one beautiful place. Massage also great, cheap ($50.000 ar for 1hr) and you can hear the waves as background. The beach is clean and almost no one which is kind of a private beach. The owner very kind modify some things in the menu to make it vegetarian for us, really smiley and cool guy. Highly recommended this place!

The property surpassed my expectations! It is a hidden gem, nestled away from the hustle and bustle. It feels like a boutique tree house. The rooms are amazing and such good value for money. The lodge offers a generous and delicious breakfast which is the best I’ve had on Nosy Be so far. The property is very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Our stay at the Royal Beach Hotel was simply perfect. It’s one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at – not just in Madagascar, but overall. What truly stood out was the incredibly warm and attentive staff. From the waiters and gardeners to the animators, housekeeping team, tour guides, and managers – every single interaction was heartwarming. You can really feel the genuine hospitality everywhere. The food was excellent – varied, fresh, and with plenty of healthy options. The large garden is beautiful and clearly cared for with love. We’re usually not fans of hotel animation, but at Royal Beach it was fantastic. There was something for everyone: volleyball, aqua gym, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding – and even a Malagasy language lesson on the beach. We especially appreciated the conversations with the staff and animators, who shared so much about Nosy Be, Madagascar, and their culture. Hearing these stories directly from locals made our stay truly special. The tours were also very well organized, and the guides were just as friendly and welcoming.

A family run hotel in the prime spot in Ambatolaka. Close to the beach local bars and shops. A nice clean room and balcony overlooking a lush botanical garden created by Benjamin to show some of the beautiful and exotic plants of madagascar. Benjamin the owner is very kind and likes to spread awareness of madagascara ecology. Tina, the manager, is an absolute star. Her local knowledge is priceless, and she helped me so much with everything from trips to food to what prices are. Everything I needed, she helped every step of the way. Perfect for a lone woman traveller to have this angel helping and supporting!!

Everything ! The staff was incredible in ways I even forgot what customer service is eve about. They are nice, always there to help if needed, ask if you're doing well. The premise is very well taken well of. The buffet was different every day and innovative, creative. Everything was delicious. There wasn't a single thing that we didn't like. A big thank you to : Faed (Excursions), Yves (Photograph), Julie (Reception), Lucien (Reception), Nazia (Reception), Nawala (Reception), Chef Nicolas from the kitchen, Fabrice (FnB), Fabiola (SPA), Maeva (SPA) and lastly the director Marcello.

Philippe organised us a taxi from the airport and we were greeted with a welcome drink - a great end to a long journey. The bungalow was right on the beach with comfy beds and mosquito net service. The views are incredible, especially of sunset. There are many places to relax and hang out and my boys enjoyed the pool table, table football and the swimming pool. We also went on a guided walking tour of the local area and saw our first lemur. The food was also very good with lots of choice.

The rooms are spacious and clean. Love the private beach access. Staff are very responsive for both prior to check ins and during the hotel stay. Our flight back to Tana actually got delayed multiple times and the owner (Elma) and her staff were keeping us informed and arranged us to stay for one more night. Much appreciated! Location is great what what we wanted to do for excursion (scuba diving, whaleshark snorkelling, etc.)

Close to the Nosy be airport. The view is spectacular and private. The food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. I loved the bungalow very much and I had a great view from my window. Manager was very helpful with explaining how to get to where I needed to go and arranged a boat that was wonderful for me. Everything was lovely, clean and nice.

The sex tourism in the village is uncomfortable (I’m being polite). Quite a bit of hassle, though not aggressive, from vendors and massage girls. Not our kind of place. Much preferred Ile aux Nattes and Belo sur Mer, but that is because they are quiet and authentic. Nosy Be most definitely is not.

Nosy Be is frequented by mainly tourist flights from Italy. therefore French and Italian are widely spoken. There are multiple accommodation options facing onto the beach, all of which defend the sun loungers from hawkers to limit hassle. There are plenty of other restaurants as well to choose from, all a safe walk down the beach at night. Don’t forget your torch though.

Great diving and excursions but don’t stay at Hotel Ocean Beach, Nosy Sakatia as they pressurise you do excursions upon arrival, pay for food in advance (then deny it it), swimming pool quarter full of brown water full of mosquitos next to accommodation with mosquito nets with holes in it. Our family left within the hour back to Nosy Be staying at Ravintsara Wellness Hotel which was so friendly and welcoming .
